Frederic Rzewski (born Westfield, Massachusetts, 1938) studied music first with Charles Mackey of Springfield, and subsequently with Walter Piston, Roger Sessions, and Milton Babbitt at Harvard and Princeton Universities. He went to Italy in 1960, where he studied with Luigi Dallapiccola and met Severino Gazzelloni, with whom he performed in a number of concerts, thus beginning a career as a performer of new piano music.
Led Er Est emerged from a series of jam sessions that core members Shawn O’Sullivan and Sam De La Rosa started having in early 2007, using bass guitar, some cheap drum machines, and synths. They were inspired to record music largely by ’70s synth prog, and ’80s lo-fi electronic and industrial music. They recorded a number of songs at friend Will Burnett’s studio that fall. Their first officially released track was on the Wierd Records compilation, Analogue Electronic Music Vol II. Owen Hutchinson joined the band for their first live show at the Wierd party that December.

Their RITUAL GROOVE MUSIC consistently follows the same aesthetic vision under various instrumental guises: creating the maximum effect by minimal means.
Marlo Eggplant was born in Baltimore, MD. She was originally trained in voice, classical guitar, piano, and cello. She began her musical career favoring folk and punk by playing local venues as a teen. When she attended college in the Berkshires, she became more interested in avant garde and bizarre musics. In 2003, she co-founded Spleencoffin records with Timothy Wisniewski. She was the drummer in the short lived improvisational deconstructed noise rock band, Hazardous Guadalupe.
Since 1998 Norwegians John Hegre and Lasse Marhaug have been making sound together as Jazzkammer. Debut album "Timex" in 1999 have been followed by a string of releases on labels like Staalplaat, Abisko, Xerxes, Smalltown Supersound, Utech, Bottrop-Boy and OHM Records, as well as touring and playing shows around the world. Remixed by friends on the "Rolex" CD in 2001. Live collaboration CD with Merzbow later the same year. Have done music for theatre and dance performances. Visited and worked in Singapore during the SARS-crisis in spring 2003, but survived.
Arvo Pärt (b. 1935) is an Estonian composer, often identified with the school of minimalism, though he rejects this label (and, even more vehemently, the label of "holy minimalism", which he describes as meaningless). Born on 11th September 1935 in Paide, Järva County, Estonia), his musical studies began in 1954 at the Tallinn Music Secondary School, interrupted less than a year later while he fulfilled his National Service obligation as oboist and side-drummer in an army band.

David Behrman (born Salzburg, Austria, August 16, 1937) is a US composer and the producer of Columbia Records' Music of Our Time series. He was also a founding member of the Sonic Arts Union. He toured with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and has worked with Ben Neill. He was a part of Robert Ashley's Music with Roots in the Aether interview series.
