Johannes Maria Staud

Johannes Maria Staud (born Innsbruck, 17 August 1974) is an Austrian composer. Staud studied with, amongst others, Brian Ferneyhough and Michael Jarrell. He gained a publishing contract with Universal Edition in 2000, and since then has won numerous prizes, including a special music prize of the Austrian Republic (2001)[1], the composition award of the Salzburg Easter Festival (2002)[2]and the Paul Hindemith prize of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (2009)[3]. There are at least three bands called the Staggers: A group of wild and young 60s garage surf trash maniacs from Graz/Austria. They released their first official album "Teenage Trash Insanity" in 2007 on the German "Wohnzimmer Records". A band from Columbus, OH that sounds like a cross between the Melvins and Man or Astroman. They are known for hit songs like "Dick Buttdick" and "Pig fucker." And a punk band from Dallas, Texas. Known as Riot Squad up until 1998.

Friedrich Cerha

Friedrich Cerha (born February 17, 1926 in Vienna) is an Austrian composer and conductor. Cerha received his education at the Viennese Music Academy (violin, composition, musician drawing) and at the University of Vienna (music sciences, German culture and language, philosophy). In 1958 he, together with Kurt Schwertsik, created the ensemble "die reihe", which was an important instrument for the spreading of contemporary music in Austria.

Max Steiner

Max Steiner was an Austrian composer who achieved legendary status as the creator of hundreds of classic American film scores. As a child he was astonishingly musically gifted, composing complex works as a teenager and completing the course of study at Vienna's Hochschule fuer Musik und Darstellende Kunst in only one year, at the age of sixteen. He studied under Gustav Mahler and, before the age of twenty, made his living as a conductor and as composer of works for the theater, the concert hall, and vaudeville.
