The Klezmatics

The Klezmatics are an American band based in New York City. Formed in New York's East Village in 1986, the band plays an updated form of the music, mixing it with other musical traditions, singing in English and Yiddish. They have also participated in cross-cultural collaborations, most notably with the Palestinian musician Simon Shaheen.

Tim Berne

Tim Berne (born 1954) is an American jazz saxophone player and composer. Though Berne was a music fan, he had no interest in playing a musical instrument until he was in college, when he purchased an alto saxophone. He was more interested in rhythm and blues music--Stax records releases and Aretha Franklin, especially--until he heard a recording by Julius Hemphill. Hemphill was known for his integration of soul music and funk with free jazz. Berne moved to New York City in 1974. There Berne took lessons from Hemphill, and later recorded with him.

The Noisicians Noisician. Jason Williams (aka Deepkiss 720) is one of UK noise music’s best-kept secrets. Details are sketchy but his ‘bio’ goes something like this. By his own admission, he tries not to release much, “but things happen”. A shadowy figure on the UK noise scene DK720 started out after recording a Radio1 'Peel Session’ with I'm Being Good in early 90s Brighton. He’d also been also exploring less popular areas of art, noise and tape label culture with the "Prick Decay clan", eventually inspiring Dylan Nyoukis to move his Chocolate Monk operation to Brighton.
