Dominic Lash

Contrabassist, based in Oxford, England. Active in free improvisation and other radical musical styles, he covers many stylistic areas, from the most intense free jazz to minimal textural explorations. Appears on albums with Philipp Wachsmann and Bruno Guastalla (as the Imaginary String Trio), with Taylor Ho Bynum, Harris Eisenstadt and Alexander Hawkins as the Convergence Quartet (who are touring the UK in April/May 2009), with Hawkins again and with Alex Ward and paul may as Barkingside. His most recent release documents a trio with Tony Bevan and Chris Corsano on the CD Monster Club.

POLYSICS

POLYSICS is a Japanese new wave/synth pop/punk/rock band, hailing from Tokyo. The band started in 1997, but got their big break in 1998 at a concert in Tokyo. They create high energy music, fusing conventional guitar music, with synthesized and computer generated sound to create a unique mixture of punk and electro-pop. Their song lyrics often consist of Japanese, English, or just plain gibberish. The band has been noted for their extremely energetic live performances and their wild gimmicky outfits.

Malcolm Goldstein (b. Brooklyn, New York, United States, March 27, 1936) is a violinist and composer specializing in new music, free improvisation, avant-garde music, and music for dance starting in the early 1960s. Though a native and long time resident of New York City, he has also lived in Boston and has been an active member of the Boston arts community. He now lives in Montreal and Sheffield, Vermont.

Conlon Nancarrow

Conlon Nancarrow (b. October 27, 1912, Texarkana - d. August 10, 1997, Mexico City) was an American-born composer who lived most of his life in Mexico. Nancarrow is remembered almost exclusively for the pieces he wrote for the player piano. He was one of the first composers to use musical instruments as mechanical machines, utilising their capacity to play complex polyrhythms at tempos far beyond human performance ability.
