Black Light Burns is an American alternative / hard rock band from California with industrial and gothic aspects, created by Wes Borland. The band's recording lineup consists of Borland himself, along with Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), Josh Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv), and Josh Freese (The Vandals, A Perfect Circle,Nine Inch Nails,Devo). Their debut album, Cruel Melody, was released in early 2007.
Stars of the Lid are a band specializing in drone-based ambient music. They list among their influences minimalist and electronic composers such as Arvo Pärt, Zbigniew Preisner, Gavin Bryars, and Henryk Górecki, as well as Talk Talk (both bands have tracks named "Taphead"), post-rock artists Labradford, and ambient innovator Brian Eno. Their music largely consists of beatless soundscapes, composed of droning, effects-treated guitars along with piano, strings, and horns; volume swells and feedback fill the gap of rhythmic instruments, providing dynamic movement within the songs.

Arto Lindsay (born May 28, 1953, Richmond, Virginia) is an American guitarist, singer, record producer and experimental composer. He's probably best known as a founding member of the influential no wave band DNA, though his work after DNA has been quite prolific. He has a distinctive soft voice and an often noisy, self-taught guitar style comprised almost entirely of extended techniques, described by Brian Olewnick "studiedly naïve ... sounding like the bastard child of Derek Bailey"; his guitar work is contrasted frequently with gentler, sensuous Brazilian music themes.
Arnold Dreyblatt (b. New York City, 1953) is an American composer and visual artist. He studied with Pauline Oliveros, La Monte Young, and Alvin Lucier and has been based in Berlin, Germany since 1984. His compositions are based on harmonics, and thus just intonation, played either through a bowing technique he developed for his modified bass, a children's piano he specially tuned, or conventional instruments.

The sound of their music is a combination of sludgy bands from the early Eighties like Flipper and My War-era Black Flag and the noise assault of The Jesus Lizard. Julia Shammas Holter is a classically-trained keytarist from Echo Park. After infiltrating Human Ear Music headquarters dressed as an intern, she wrote and recorded her own release on the label. Her music is witty, surreal and optimistic. She plays without sarcasm in the terrains that divide sentimentality, passion, and control. Her songs are written instinctively, and treated with an off-kilter fastidiousness, working orchestral variety from minimal instrumentation.

There are three artists that use the name NON: 1) Under the name NON, originally with second member Robert Turman, Boyd Rice has recorded several seminal noise music albums, and collaborated with experimental music/dark folk artists like Current 93, Death in June, Rose McDowall and with Coil as Sickness of Snakes. Most of his music has been released on the Mute Records label. Rice has also collaborated with Foetus, Z'ev, Frank Tovey, Tony Wakeford of Sol Invictus, Douglas P. of Death in June and Michael Moynihan of Blood Axis.
