When I was in junior high I began discovering music that struck me, as opposed to music that felt familiar (like my parent’s music). This was mostly Metallica (the first song I heard of theirs was “Enter Sandman”, so this was after they had already become “mainstream” and blown up), NWA (which I memorized completely verbatim)...
This Is Your Captain Speaking are a post-rock instrumental group from Victoria, Australia. The debut album from 'This Is Your Captain Speaking' Storyboard was released independently in Australia in May 2005. Clocking in at just under 66 minutes, the album's seven tracks were recorded live in a primary school library. The first pressing of Storyboard has sold out, but the album is being re-issued on UK label Resonant.

Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje, composer and performer (born Dec. 29th 1973 in Trondheim, Norway), finished composition studies at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo in 2000. Her compositions have been performed by Oslo Sinfonietta, The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Arve Tellefsen, Cikada and Vertavo string quartets, Quatuor Renoir, ticom, Crash Ensemble, Torben Snekkestad, Spunk, Frode Haltli and Poing among others.
Was the lead singer in the Australian band of the 1990s - Frente! from Melbourne, and later found success with Splendid. Her debut solo album Grounded Bird was released in 2007.

Sally Timms (born 29 November 1959 in Leeds, England) is a singer and songwriter. Sally is best known for her long involvement with The Mekons whom she joined in 1986. Operator Please is a baroque pop band from Gold Coast, Australia that formed in early 2005 and their current line up consists of vocalist and guitarist Amandah Wilkinson, drummer Tim Commandeur, keyboardist Chris Holland, bassist Ashley McConnell, and violinist Taylor Henderson. Original keyboardist Sarah Gardiner left in April of 2008. They released their debut album, "Yes Yes Vindictive" in November 2007 in Australia and March 2008 in Germany/United Kingdom. They released their third single "Just A Song About Ping Pong" in Australia, debuting at #15 on the ARIA charts.
A self-taught pianist from the age of 7, Dustin O'Halloran's personal histories give us some clue to the thickly-woven tapestries of his music: he has lived in LA (where he studied art at Santa Monica College and formed the much-adored Devics with Sara Lov), Italy (in the depths of rural Emilia Romagna) and Berlin. Anika Moa (born 21st May 1980) is a singer-songwriter from Christchurch, New Zealand. While still at school in Christchurch, Moa entered the 'Smokefree Rockquest'.
She received a record deal with Warner Music in New Zealand and Atlantic Records in New York. The record company had big commercialized plans for her - which conflicted with her brash down-to-earth personality. Overall Moa did not enjoy her time in America and returned to base herself in New Zealand. Her first album was released in 2001.
