James Chance & The Contortions

One of the original punk jazz groups of the New York No Wave scene, the Contortions were led by saxophonist James Chance, aka James White (birth name James Siegfried). The group formed in New York City in 1977 and ended along with the No Wave scene in 1979. Their first recorded appearance, credited solely as the Contortions, was on the 1978 compilation, No New York. The following year, two albums were issued almost simultaneously on the ZE label, Buy the Contortions (an extreme jazz-punk LP) and Off White (a disco/standards hybrid released under the moniker James White and the Blacks...

Glenn Branca

Glenn Branca (born October 6, 1948 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) is an composer and guitarist. Branca studied theater at Emerson College in Boston in the early 1970s. While there, he began experimenting with sound as the founder of an experimental theater group called Bastard Theater. He moved to New York in 1976. His first encounter with the NYC music scene was with the N.DoDo Band whom he observed many times at their rehearsal space- Phil Demise's Gegenschein Vaudeville Placenter. This is where he first met jeffrey lohn who was playing electric violin with the N.

ESG

Since their inception, ESG has affected post-punk, no wave, dance-punk, hip-hop, and various styles of dance music such as house. They fell in with the late '70s and early '80s NYC no wave and post-punk scene, they had their music sampled countless times, and they became a playlist staple at '70s and early '80s dance clubs like the Paradise Garage and the Music Box. ESG (Emerald, Sapphire and Gold) formed in 1978 in the South Bronx.

Closed Circuits

Conceived as a banishing ritual, the nine songs of Closed Circuits’ first album arrange themselves into three parts, representing Isis, Apophis and Osiris – roughly growth, destruction and rebirth. Upon this structure the songs coalesce into a coherent whole, designed for maximum affect when listened to from start to finish. Closed Circuits is a young man from an old island. Teenage Jesus and The Jerks

Teenage Jesus & the Jerks were an influential New York City no wave music group of 1976-79 fronted by Lydia Lunch and James Chance, who later left the band after some conflict about their direction. The first band formed by vocalist/guitarist/provocateur Lydia Lunch, Teenage Jesus & the Jerks were the center of New York's short-lived no wave movement. Cacophonous, confrontational, and fiercely inaccessible, Teenage Jesus generally played ten- to 15-minute shows, never released a full-length album, and disbanded after a relatively brief existence.

Their first single ‘Sweet Dynamite’ was released via PledgeMusic in January 2013. 2. Spirits (Slovenia) also known as "Night Spirits" are a grunge rock group from Izola (Slovenia), active in the 90's. They released his first and only album "Zemljin Krik" (Earth's Scream) in 1999.
