Ralph White

Ralph White is bluegrass through and through with a modern twist.... His live gigs are frequented by a handful of die hard White devotees, proving how his modern take on this traditional form is an aquired taste where once you're bit, you just can't quit. His album, 'Navasota River Devil Squirrel', was '..recorded in a heatwave whilst a lull in my [Ralph's] day job'. Punk meets bluegrass meets grunge... damn the man. www.keylandsound.com

Brazos

Brazos began as the solo recording project of Martin Crane. After two solo EPs, Crane recruited and honed a 3 piece live band and in November of 2009, Brazos released it's first LP, Phosphorescent Blues. A national tour opening for White Denim followed. "Adrienne Rich may be one of the more influential figures in contemporary American poetry, but until Martin Crane of the Austin band Brazos fell under the spell of her poem "The Observer," she's never been known as an indie-rock muse.

Yellow Fever

There are (kind of) two artists who perform under the name Yellow Fever: 1) Yellow Fever changed their name to YellowFever(no space, capital 'F'). http://www.myspace.com/yellerfever
2) Yellow Fever combined Rock’n Roll music with Latin and Reggae rhythms. The act played together between 1994 - 2004. It was during a Summer in the early 90's that Alex Svenson-Metés, the band’s main song-writer and singer, returned from a Summer job as a cowboy in Colombia with an idea in mind; to combine some Latin sounds he had heard while working in Latin America with traditional alternative rock.

Stars of the Lid

Stars of the Lid are a band specializing in -based music. They list among their influences minimalist and electronic composers such as Arvo Pärt, Zbigniew Preisner, Gavin Bryars, and Henryk Górecki, as well as Talk Talk (both bands have tracks named "Taphead"), post-rock artists Labradford, and ambient innovator Brian Eno. Their music largely consists of beatless soundscapes, composed of droning, effects-treated guitars along with piano, strings, and horns; volume swells and feedback fill the gap of rhythmic instruments, providing dynamic movement within the songs.

The Golden Boys

On “Plainsman’s Lament,” above an organ that stands tall like a support group and guitars that wobble loose like weak knees, Austin, Texas’ The Golden Boys howl, “We’ll drink until we’ve had our fill/ No one who knows us can stop us/ And no one will.” And while they might be singing (again) about drinking, the most noteworthy thing here—aside from a hook that you’ll never forget—is the sense of irrepressible joy and abandon that The Golden Boys bring.
