Melbourne septet The Bon Scotts are not an AC/DC covers band but a bittersweet mix of playful melodies, arresting percussion and sing-along choruses. The Bon Scotts defy notions of plain and normal, melding traditional folk instruments with an endearing and satirical voice. Laced with irony and hype, their unconventional hooks and distinct sound have put them at the forefront of the new folk revival.

The Organ Grinder's Monkey

The Organ Grinder’s Monkey is a musical collaboration between man and machine, an unholy alliance whose aim is to combine indie-rocking guitars with glitchy lo-fi electro beats and a dash of retro 8-bit synth. The duo consists of Benjamin Sane: a human who sings and plays guitar, and Bill Murray: the laptop computer who provides the rhythmical backdrop for his organic counterpart. “Stormy Weather” is the title of their latest EP, released in July of this year.

Mark Fell and Mat Steel formed SND in 1998 and were quickly placed at the forefront of new digital minimalism. With a series of influential releases on their own label SND and on the now defunct Frankfurt Mille Plateaux, SND pioneered a sound that combined the linear minimalism of Ryoji Ikeda and Oval, with the rhythmic geometry of techno artists such as Thomas Brinkmann or Derrick May. SND promote an approach to the organization of sound, space and form that owes more to origami than any time based medium.

Zolan Quobble is a performance poet in his own right. He was part of Chicken Sidecar.
Stephen Elwell also plays electric drums with Foul Geese and guitar and keyboards with Bert Shaft Orchestra. He used to be the keyboard player in Brain of Morbius.
Pete Karkut uses samples including those made from his own collection of instruments and his own idiosyncratic recordings such as straw blowing in avocado soup and a fly trapped in a plastic bowl. He used to play percussion, keyboards and tapes with Leven Signs.

The Colours Will Erase Us a Scottish / band formed in 2010. The band is inspired by the likes of Earth, Khanate and Sunn O))), as well as Chomskyan linguistic theory and Burroughs' cut and splice ideas. Some songs feature no discernible beat and most are played at a slow pace, using repetition to induce feelings of unease or relaxation depending on the mood of the listener at the time.
