Judy Dyble

Judy Aileen Dyble (born 13 February 1949 in London) is a British singer, best known as the original vocalist with Fairport Convention from 1967 to 1968. The group recorded their first album with her, their repertoire at the time consisting largely of American singer-songwriter works plus a few originals. After Dyble's departure Fairport recruited Sandy Denny as her replacement and turned toward the folk-influenced rock for which they became better known.

Anika Moa

Anika Moa (born 21st May 1980) is a singer-songwriter from Christchurch, New Zealand. While still at school in Christchurch, Moa entered the 'Smokefree Rockquest'.
She received a record deal with Warner Music in New Zealand and Atlantic Records in New York. The record company had big commercialized plans for her - which conflicted with her brash down-to-earth personality. Overall Moa did not enjoy her time in America and returned to base herself in New Zealand. Her first album was released in 2001.

Meg Hutchinson

Performing Songwriter calls Hutchinson, "...A master of introspective ballads filled with understated yearning and an exquisite sense of metaphor." The twenty-six year old describes her style as "lyric-based, folk-pop, with a whole lot of small town idealism and one devastating break up thrown in for good measure." Among her influences she is quick to include poet Mary Oliver along with the likes of David Grey, Patty Griffin, Greg Brown and Shawn Colvin. Her songs are characterized by a weathered but unselfconscious optimism, a love of language and of the natural world.

Artist Type:

Kieran Halpin

Travelling Irish folk-rock singer-songwriter and acoustic guitar player with a blues feel. His concerts are about pure music on acoustic guitar, unlike the older studio work you hear here. The track Mission Street (reprise) will appeal to those who like Japanese Anime Soundtracks. CD's that give an impression of Kieran's concerts: 'Glory Dayz' (1995) live with Chris Jones (RIP) on lead acoustic guitar, and 'Akoustik' (1992) with Jimmy Faulkner (RIP) on lead acoustic guitar (ex-Christy Moore and Paul Brady bands).
