Cat's Eyes

Faris Badwan, frontman for UK indie rockers The Horrors, has a new project: Cat's Eyes, a duo with the Canadian opera soprano and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Zeffira. The group specializes in a glassy, symphonic take on girl-group pop, and they played their first show in December in a pretty unusual place: St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican, during an afternoon mass "attended by seven high-ranking cardinals," according to a press release. Lo-Fi Culture Scene

LO-FI CULTURE SCENE are made up of 5 13/14 year old boys who live in north london. The band started as Tom M, Angus and Callum. They played together for a while in a park avenue south basement doing some covers and making up some tunes which weren't that great. They then realised that they needed another guitarist as Bloc Pary's Helicopter needed two. So Callum asked his friend Tom H to join the band. They then started writing some better stuff and doing more of their own music.

Even if you’re fortunate enough to have the original small-run CDR of “Armory Radio,” this double vinyl set should still be of interest as it differs substantially from the first version, with additional material and new thoughts on what went before. If, like me, you’ve enjoyed interstation sounds from shortwave radios, you’ll probably find yourself atuned to this music very quickly. To my ears and imagination, these conjunctions of voices, snatches of music and random tones and whooses conjured up exotic lands and Geoff Mullen’s music has that quality...

Pascal Pinon

Pascal Pinon are the twins Jófríður and Ásthildur, two girls from Reykjavík, Iceland. When they were only fourteen they got together with two of their friends and decided to start a band. Using the instruments they had, Pascal Pinon worked in the twins' bedroom. At the same place they played their first gig: calling it 'The Friendly Concert'.  Only a few months later Pascal Pinon had already played various local venues and started to record their first album.

Nizlopi were a British two man band from Leamington Spa, UK with Luke Concannon (vocals, guitar, bodhran) and John Parker (double bass, beatbox, guitar, backing vocals). They were initially friends who've been writing and playing music together since their early teens. They take their band name from a Hungarian girl that Luke had a crush on at school. Nizlopi gigged relentlessly since the start of the 21st century.

23 Skidoo

23 Skidoo cross industrial, punk, hip hop, funk, jazz and tribal elements. The band had interests in martial arts, burundi and kodo drumming, Fela Kuti, The Last Poets, William S. Burroughs, as well as the emerging confluence of industrial music, post-punk and funk. 23 Skidoo was formed in North London, UK in 1979 as a post-punk trio. By 1980 they had grown into a quartet consisting of Fritz Catlin, Johnny Turnbull, Sam Mills and Patrick Griffiths.
