The Anxiety Of Love

Formed 2011, thrashing out ideas and emotions in a cellar, and coming up with something that when harnessed, shimmered and howled. Ill health and psychological issues put it on ice for half a year, but then freshly focused, jumping in the fire blind, The Anxiety Of Love recorded four songs in the August of 2012, which by the end of the year will be released as their first recording, a cassette EP, called simply 'One.'

Scary Mansion

Scary Mansion is Leah Hayes. She lives in Brooklyn and writes music on her thunderstick. When Leah Hayes accompanies her fragile, cracking voice with the thunderstick, the result is reminiscent of Harry Smith Anthology folk: simple, breaking, and humble. When running it through a distortion pedal, the noisy, feedback-y texture is closer to Royal Trux or Sonic Youth. Leah Hayes's melodies are always beautifully wrought and melancholy, and her voice has the expressiveness and simplicity of Will Oldham or Cat Power.

Shelagh Mcdonald

Originally from Scotland, Shelagh McDonald moved to London in the late 1960s, where she was part of the folk-music scene. In 1970 she released her first album, Shelagh McDonald Album, which sold rather poorly. 1971's Stargazer sold better, and was critically acclaimed. However, some time after its release, McDonald disappeared and wasn't heard from again until quite recently. Shelagh McDonald's music is close to that of some of her contemporaries, for example, Sandy Denny, Nick Drake, and Duncan Browne.
