Betty Davis

Betty Davis (born Betty Mabry, 1945 in New York City, USA) is an American funk, rock and soul singer and ex-model. When she turned sixteen, Betty moved to New York and met several musicians including Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone. She met Miles Davis in 1967 and married him in 1968. As Miles stated in his autobiography, in addition to creating turmoil in his personal life, Betty helped him to explore music by introducing him to psychedelic rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix and funk innovator Sly Stone.

PRAXIS

There are several artists with that name. 1) Praxis was an ever-changing musical project led by prolific producer Bill Laswell. Praxis combined elements of different musical genres such as funk, jazz, hip hop and heavy metal into highly improvised music. The band first appeared in 1992 with the critically acclaimed Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis), Laswell, guitarist Buckethead, keyboardist Bernie Worrell and drummer Bryan ''Brain'' Mantia have defined the direction of the band over the last 15 years.

Stewart Copeland

Stewart Armstrong Copeland (born July 16, 1952) is an American musician. He was the drummer for the band The Police and is an influential drum stylist. Copeland is also popular for a wealthy catalogue of SOUNDTRACKS. During the early days of The Police he also released music under the (then secret) pseudonym of Klark Kent. In the late 80's's Copeland formed the band Animal Logic, who released two albums before their demise. He is also a member of the supergroup Oysterhead.

John Hammond

John Paul Hammond (born 13th November 1942), also known as "John Hammond Jr", is a blues singer and guitarist. He usually plays acoustic guitars and dobros and sings in a barrelhouse style. Since 1962, when he made his debut on Vanguard Records, Hammond has made 29 albums. In the 1990s he recorded for the Pointblank label. Hammond has earned one Grammy Award and been nominated for four others. He is the son of the legendary record producer John H. Hammond.

Over the course of the years, they have released several full length albums ; 'The Main Event' (2000), 'Superhero Music' (2002) and 'Fingathing and the Big Red Nebula Band' (2004), with a best of compilation following the year after.

There at least two different representatives of the name Twine. 1) Baltimore, Maryland's Greg Malcolm and San Diego, California's Chad Mossholder comprise a unique musical entity. Twine is the culmination of their extended history, which includes their acclaimed 2002 LP Recorder for France's Bip-Hop and their distinguished catalogue for Chicago's Hefty Records and Sweden's Komplott. Don Byron (b.1958) is a U.S. composer and clarinettist. While he is considered a jazz musician, he is stylistically very adventurous, having recorded klezmer music, German lieder, and cartoon music. Byron was born on 8th November 1958 in the Bronx, New York City and was raised by his parents who were themselves musicians, his mother a pianist; his father a bass player for calypso bands. His parents raised him listening to all kinds of music, taking him on trips to the ballet and the symphony, and also exposing him to jazz such as Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis records.
