Sleep Research Facility (sometimes abbreviated to SR_F or SRF) is a dark ambient artist from Glasgow, Scotland, specialising in sleep-conducive beatless ambient music which is both artistic as well as functional. Sleep Research Facility consists of the single band member Kevin Doherty. His music usually contains no rhythmic elements (one exception is "2.5" on Dead Weather Machine), but instead relies on spacious, extended, richly-textured sounds.
Since 1998 Norwegians John Hegre and Lasse Marhaug have been making sound together as Jazzkammer. City Seventeen are a three-piece instrumental band based in Cambridge, UK. They formed in the winter of 2005. They concentrate on exploring the possiblilties of non-standard approaches to music and creating soundscapes that provide background music to imagined scenarios. The current lineup consists of Rhys Copeland, Chris Barber and Jon Callan. They prefer complete control over their material, both recording and producing the songs themselves, and self-release through their own IFF Transponder label.
They make "stories" from the classical and beautiful view of the world and visualize them.
In addition to digital soundmaking with programing, piano, synthesizer, and over 20 effecters, they make illusional analog sounds which are also digital, by using many percussion sounds like glocken.
