Excepter is an improvised-electronic performance group devoted to the destruction of boundaries between the psychic friends network and reality television. They formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2002.
Kimbra, born and bred in Hamilton, New Zealand has been writing a fusion of jazz and soul for over 5 years, known for her erratic but graceful voice inspired by the likes of Björk and Jeff Buckley. Kimbra's first success was in 2004, receiving Second place in the Smokefree Rockquest along with Best Vocals and Womens Musicianship. Before her debut album, Kimbra released 2 singles: 'Simply On My Lips' and 'Deep For You'. Kimbra's debut album, Vows was released in 2011. Hella began in 2001 in Sacramento, California as a two member band consisting of Zach Hill and Spencer Seim writing technically intricate music of a highly spastic nature. They play a blend of math rock and noise rock. On early albums, the band forged their classic sound, playing minimally arranged, abrasive instrumentals that still retain an idiosyncratic sense of melody. In 2005, the band expanded their live band by adding Dan Elkan on vocals, rhythm guitar, and synth and Jonathan Hischke on bass guitar.
Working on their debut album which blends grand, romantic and dark songs with unique textures such as chinese violins and koto harps. In the meantime, the band has opened for The Big Pink, Florence and The Machine, The Drums, and Nine Inch Nails and they have recently composed the score to the Harmony Korine + James Franco film "Rebel"
