There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Sandcastle is a one-person project founded by Elena Andersson as a side project of her first neoclassical/darkwave music experiment called Gothic Lethargy that has existed since 1997. The music style of Sandcastle can be defined as goth/etherial/darkwave/soundtrack. Vernian Process is a multimedia project, formed in San Francisco, California by Joshua Pfeiffer. It was started as an attempt to create music inspired by late 19th Century Science Fiction authors such as Jules Verne, and H.G. Wells. In 2008 Joshua was joined by multi-instrumentalist Martin Irigoyen. They are currently working on their first collaboration together "Behold the Machine". Inspired by Steampunk culture and the Darkwave, Neo-Classical, Trip-Hop, Post-Punk, and New Wave musical genres.

After the sudden and tragic death of schoolfriend and God Machine bassist Jimmy Fernandez, Proper-Sheppard began searching for a new musical outlet. Together with friends and fellow musicians from other Flower Shop bands Elevate, Ligament and Oil Seed Rape, Proper-Sheppard began working on the music that would become known as Sophia.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen is a collaboration between Stars of the Lid member Adam Wiltzie and Dustin O'Halloran.
