Swingin' Utters is an American punk rock band that formed in the late 1980s. Having begun in Santa Cruz, California, the band moved to San Francisco where they are now based. They have been signed to Fat Wreck Chords since 1996. As well as being classed as a "punk revival" band (reminiscent of British 1970s bands such as Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned, Sham 69 and Eddie & The Hot Rods), Swingin' Utters have increasingly shown themselves to be influenced by Irish folk, particularly The Pogues.

Band founders Patricia Day and Kim Nekroman first met when Day's now-defunct band, the punk rock group Peanut Pump Gun, opened for Nekroman's psychobilly band, Nekromantix, at a festival in Cologne, Germany in 1996. Despite both belonging to the subculture scene of Copenhagen, Denmark, the two had never met before, but they became friends over their mutual interest in alternative music. Poison Idea was formed in 1980 in Portland, OR by vocalist Jerry A. (aka Jerry Lang). Children Collide are an indie rock band from Melbourne, Australia. Their debut album, The Long Now was released on 11 October 2008 and was produced by David Sardy. Johnny Mackay (guitar, vocals), Heath Crawley (bass) and Ryan Caesar (drums) formed the band in Melbourne a few years back after hitchhiking their way from Lismore. As founding members and principle songwriters, Johnny and Heath play raw over-driven rock, oozing a range of influences.
