This was during the Punk Rock and New Wave craze and The Cold drew their share of fans from the genre. 2) A band from Frankfurt was founded in 1997 as a quartet, initially featuring an unconventional interpretation of traditional new wave music from the early 80's. With the first Demo CD, today's five-member line-up joined forces and their repertoire was completely replaced by their own songs.
Monkey Mafia
A 90s alias of Jon Carter, for his breakbeat productions as opposed to the house flavoured Junior Cartier project. Inevitably lumped in with the "big beat" movement of the time, although their album Shoot the Boss had a dark mood and heavy dub influence that defied the "cheeky party antics" ethos of the genre.
The Snake Corps
The Snake Corps came together in 1984 following the break-up of Sad Lovers & Giants (SL&G) the previous year.
Aiming for a harder-edged sound, core members Tristan Garel-Funk and Nigel Pollard advertised in the Melody Maker for the necessary musicians. After many auditions they settled on Marc Lewis and Liam McGuinness on vocals and bass respectively. This original incarnation set about establishing its own sound - recording demos of songs later to appear on the band

Taking their name from William Burroughs' "The Soft Machine" they gigged extensively during the early to mid 1980's and possibly hold the record for the amount of times they were nearly signed to record labels.
