Interpol's lead singer and guitarist Paul Banks released a solo album under the name Julian Plenti, and has written and performed under the Plenti moniker for several years, according to a source close to the situation. While the album was recorded recently, some of the songs were written more than ten years ago. He's done a lot of work with Niall Darcy, with whom there has been a long time mutual admiration.

American band the Afghan Whigs were a soul-influenced, alternative rock band that was mainly active in the 1990s. While achieving only moderate commercial success, the Afghan Whigs attracted ample critical acclaim and deeply loyal fans, Rolling Stone described the band as spending "the bulk of their career on the brink of stardom", yet they've "never quite broken beyond a substantial legion of devotees enamored of their thinly veiled sleaze."

Missy Higgins (born Melissa Morrison Higgins on August 19, 1983, in Melbourne, Australia) is one of Australia's most popular female singer-songwriters. Missy (Melissa) was thrust into the limelight in her homeland when her sister entered Missy into a competition, which she won. M People were a British house music act from Manchester which formed in 1990. They consisted of Mike Pickering, Heather Small and Paul Heard and Shovell. Pickering was a member of factory records dance act Quando Quango, but became more noted as one of the original DJs at The hacienda. Heard was a member of acid jazz band Ace Of Clubs. Heather Small was in the British Soul band Hot House who had released a number of critically acclaimed records without scoring any major success.

Mike Doughty
Mike Doughty (born June 10, 1970, in Fort Knox, Kentucky) is an American indie and alternative rock singer-songwriter and author. The former frontman of Soul Coughing barely sounds like his former self. Doughty began writing solo songs in 1995, but nothing materialized until Soul Coughing broke up in 2000, at which point Doughty began touring solo with his acoustic guitar after becoming clean and sober. Skittish was finally released to the masses along with the EP Rockity Roll on the ATO record label.
