There are three artists using this name: (1) Based in Manchester U.K., The High were formed in '89 by John Matthews and guitarist Andy Couzens. Couzens was a former member of The Stone Roses and played guitar on the tracks 'So Young & 'Tell Me'. Their debut album 'Somewhere Soon' was released in 1990 on London Records. Their first three singles 'Box Set Go', 'Take Your Time' & 'Up & Down' were also released in 1990.

"Sweden is, musically, quite Anglo-inspired; many of my friends listened to this kind of music, and that's the way I got hooked on it," he recalls. "Stone Roses was kind of an introduction - I never had any high thoughts of their debut album when I first listened to it, but when I picked up the album again a couple years later and had a listen, it totally exploded.
Black Grape were a rock and roll band from Manchester, England, formed in 1993 by Shaun Ryder and Bez, formerly of Happy Mondays. They recruited rapper Kermit and drummer Ged Lynch of the Manchester-based group The Ruthless Rap Assassins, plus guitarist Wags from The Paris Angels. Recording of new material started that year, although the group were not under contract. In 1995 they signed to Radioactive Records (an imprint of major label BMG) and released their debut album. It's Great When You're Straight...Yeah immediately charted at number 1 in the UK, and spawned three Top 20 singles.

For most of their career, the band consisted of Ian Brown (vocals), John Squire (guitar), Gary "Mani" Mounfield (bass) and Alan "Reni" Wren (drums). Meshing '60s-styled guitar pop with an understated '80s dance beat, the band defined the British guitar pop scene of the late '80s and early '90s. After their eponymous 1989 debut album became a British sensation, countless other groups in the same vein became popular, including The Charlatans, Inspiral Carpets, and Happy Mondays.
EMF were an indie/alternative dance band which formed in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England in 1989 and best known for their 1990 hit "Unbelievable". The band consisted of James Atkin (vocals, guitar), Ian Dench (guitar, keyboards), Derry Brownson (keyboard, samples), Zach Foley (bass) and Mark Decloedt (drums). The band originally disbanded in 1997 and reformed in 2001. Foley died of a drug overdose in January 2002 and the band only played four more shows that year before disbanding once more. The band re-formed for a second reunion in 2007, which ended in May of 2009.

Mark Berry (born 18 April 1964), commonly known as Bez or Marky Mark (and occasionally credited as Bez "Bez" Bez), is a British dancer and percussionist. He was a member and the mascot of Salford band Happy Mondays, having been invited in by lead singer Shaun Ryder shortly after the band was formed. He is chiefly remembered for his bizarre style of dancing, and use of the maracas - the Mondays' second single was called "Freaky Dancin'" in tribute.
