The Moon

Several bands go by The Moon: 1) An American band formed 1967-- Moon's first album is one of those undiscovered late-'60s psychedelic pop masterpieces which command a high price from LP collectors (like their second album, this one has not been made available on compact disc). Moon Without Earth was produced by keyboard player/guitarist/vocalist Matthew Moore and drummer Larry Brown (ex-Sidewalk Productions sideman) at Continental Recorders — formerly on Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, CA — where the band reportedly lived for a time.

Julia Holter

Julia Shammas Holter is a classically-trained keytarist from Echo Park. After infiltrating Human Ear Music headquarters dressed as an intern, she wrote and recorded her own release on the label. Her music is witty, surreal and optimistic. She plays without sarcasm in the terrains that divide sentimentality, passion, and control. Her songs are written instinctively, and treated with an off-kilter fastidiousness, working orchestral variety from minimal instrumentation.

With grandiose production and simple, melodic hooks that would make Phil Spector blush in his jail uniform, The Liminanas have that special something that embeds their harmonious arrival quickly into your brain, sending a sinister vibe through the original ye-ye formula and coming out with remarkable results.
