Ah, the never-ending charm of the French. We’ve been obsessed for years now, and this debut single from The Liminanas has the power to unite warring nations and to seduce the innocent, all in one luxurious punch. Colleen Green always wears sunglasses onstage. Colleen Green is long hair and getting high. Colleen Green's first full-length for Hardly Art, Sock it to Me, is grounded in pure pop. Colleen Green's multi-tracked, emotive vocals take an enormous leap forward, evoking all-time heroes such as Rose Melberg and Tina Weymouth, with every drum-machine-tracked song awash in the dreamy slacker romanticism of California.
Garage-pop or punk-powerpop? Glow Kit don’t gamble on horses – the aesthetics here are dirty, catchy and hard-hitting. In a time when the term ‘pop music’ is luckily no longer a curse word among picky music lovers, we need musicians who know how to write a good pop song. No matter what genre or style this melody relates to! In this case, the Aarhus, Denmark duo devise a blend of garage rock / punk / power pop that draws on inspiration from musicians such as The Beat, Black Lips, the late Jay Reatard and others.
