Karlheinz Stockhausen
Karlheinz Stockhausen (August 22, 1928 - December 5, 2007) experienced true horror and carnage as an orphaned teenager on active service near the end of WWII. He then went on seemingly to redefine contemporary music: from Kreuzspiel, the early electronic Kontakte, the intuitive works, the hour-long a-capella Stimmung, to the Licht cycle of seven operas. His influence is widely felt, even in unexpected places within the world of popular music.

Pete Stollery
Pete Stollery is a composer, teacher and performer based in Aberdeen, in the North East of Scotland. He composes almost exclusively in the electroacoustic medium, particularly music where there exists an interplay between the original "meaning" of sounds and sounds existing purely as sound, divorced from their physical origins. In his music, this is achieved by the juxtaposition of real (familiar) and unreal (unfamiliar) sounds to create surreal landscapes. He is also active in music education in schools, both as a researcher and as a creator of resources.

Hanna Hartman creates compositions that are exclusively made up from authentic sounds which she has recorded around the world. Sounds are taken out of their original context and thus perceived in their purity. Hanna Hartman seeks to reveal hidden correspondences between the most diverse auditive impressions and in new constellations she creates extraordinary worlds of sound.

Graham Lambkin
Graham Lambkin first entered the public consciousness at 19 when he formed his band The Shadow Ring, in Kent, England. Lambkin has primarily worked under his own name, most notably with 2007's brilliant Salmon Run, a precursor to The Breadwinner - a collaboration with Jason Lescalleet. Composer Walter Marchetti once made a statement to the effect that he was seeking to reach the "bottom" of music. Some more diligent attention to this task lead him to the music of Graham Lambkin.

Kevin Drumm is an experimental musician based in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Emerging from the city's improvised music scene, in the 1990s he became one the world's pre-eminent prepared guitar players. Years active from 1991. Drumm's work expanded to include electroacoustic compositions and live electronic music made with laptop computers and analog modular synthesizers. He has collaborated with many artists working in similar fields, including Japanese guitarist Taku Sugimoto, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jim O'Rourke...

Robert Ashley may be either of two different artists - an American opera writer or an American video-games journalist and podcaster. A) Robert Ashley, a distinguished figure in American contemporary music, holds an international reputation for his work in new forms of opera and multi-disciplinary projects. Bernard Parmegiani
Bernard Parmegiani (1927) is a French composer of musique concrete who trained (1959) under Pierre Schaeffer. Raised amidst two pianos, Bernard Parmegiani grew up under the Sign of Sound, listening to the everyday scales practised by his mother, a teacher, and to the virtuoso repertoire of his step-father. He was taken on as a sound man first on the radio and later on TV, which is where he conducted his first experiments with "bit twiddling" on tape.

Toshi Ichiyanagi
Toshi Ichiyanagi (一柳慧 Ichiyanagi Toshi, born 4 February 1933, Kobe, Japan) is a Japanese composer of avant-garde music. One of his most notable works is the 1960 composition, Kaiki, which combined Japanese instruments, sho and koto, and western instruments, harmonica and saxophone. Another work Distance (1961) requires the performers to play from a distance of three meters from their instruments. Anima 7 (1964) states that chosen action should be performed "as slowly as possible."
