NOW Ensemble is a dynamic young group of performers and composers dedicated to making new chamber music for the 21st century. With our unique instrumentation of flute, clarinet, electric guitar, double bass, and piano, NOW Ensemble brings a fresh sound and a new perspective to the classical tradition, infused with a blend of musical influences that reflects the diverse backgrounds and listening experiences of our members.
Nils Frahm, born in 1982, had an early introduction to music. During his childhood he was taught to play piano by Nahum Brodski – a student of the last scholar of Tschaikowski. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of the classical pianists before him as well as contemporary composers. Today Nils Frahm works as a composer and producer in Berlin. In early 2008 he founded Durton Studio, where he has worked with likeminded musicians.
Formed by three musicians from the new improvised music Lisbon scene, RED trio features Rodrigo Pinheiro at the piano, Hernâni Faustino at the doublebass and Gabriel Ferrandini at the drums. The trio was formed in 2007 as a response to a challenge posed by Hernâni Faustino. RED Trio explores one of the most prolific jazz formations: piano/doublebass/drums. The trio's music is characterized for being fast, energic, highly focused, dynamic and sometimes nervous and violent. Most of RED trio influences are based on jazz and especially on improvised music.

1) American jazz producer, arranger, conductor, pianist, keyboardist. Has been on the jazz scene, producing for such artists as James Brown and George Benson as well as appearing in many credits for CTI Records in Japan and the United States since the 1970's. Claims to fame later became known well to his appearance are a fisherman's cap, a somewhat unkempt moustache/beard and aviator-frame eyeglasses.
annaJo is a singer songwriter from Sussex, England. Influenced by a wide variety of artists, her songs are piano-based and incorporate elements of soul, jazz, rock and pop. annaJo's debut album, Just Me, is a 2 disc collection of full-band studio recordings and acoustic tracks, available from her website.
Markéta Irglová (born 1988, Valašské Meziříčí, Czech Republic) is a Czech musician, songwriter and actress. As of 2007, she resides in Dublin. Irglová began playing music at age seven, when her parents bought her a piano and sent her to lessons. When she was nine, her father bought her a guitar and she immediately began playing and learning songs by ear. She released an album, The Swell Season on Overcoat Recordings in (2006) with Glen Hansard of the Irish rock band The Frames, whom she had met when he was visiting Prague.
Bohren & der Club of Gore are a noir jazz band founded in 1992 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany by Thorsten Benning (drums), Morten Gass (keys), Reiner Henseleit (guitar), and Robin Rodenberg (upright / double bass). They play a crossover of jazz and ambient, which they self described as an "unholy ambient mixture of slow jazz ballads, Black Sabbath doom and down tuned Autopsy sounds". Over the years they have continously reduced and compressed their music to extremes.
