There are at least 3 artists with the name Backbeat: 1) A band put together to record music for the film of the same name (about The Beatles' early days in Hamburg. This band consisted of Dave Pirner (vocals), Greg Dulli (vocals), Thurston Moore (guitar), Don Fleming (guitar), Mike Mills (bass guitar) and Dave Grohl (drums) 2) A British percussion quartet active since 1995, who have worked with artists such as Sanju Sahai and Shonosuke Okura. They are also a chamber music ensemble-in-residence at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.

1) Dusted is the dewy-eyed solo pop project of Holy Fuck's Brian Borchedt. It draws on Women's tantalising, elegiac lo-fi moments; 'Candy Says'-era the Velvet Underground; and cavernous Microphones-style production, and a debut album is due through Hand Drawn Dracula / Polyvinyl in summer 2012. Borchedt is based in Toronto, Canada. 2) Dusted is the joint venture of two producers, Rollo Armstrong (Rollo Armstrong, who has produced New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Faithless) and Mark Bates (Guy Ornadel).

Decoder Ring

Decoder Ring was formed in 2001, in Sydney, Australia. Original line-up consisted of Matt Fitzgerald ( keyboards, guitar) Geoff Towner (bass, El Mopa), Pete Kelly (guitar, Sea Life Park), Kenny Davis Jr (keyboards, piano, The Jackson Code, The Blackeyed Susans) & Thomas Schutzinger (drums). Original line-up recorded the EP "Spooky Action at a Distance" (2002) and album "Decoder Ring" (2002). Geoff Towner departed in 2003 and was replaced by Ben Ely (Regurgitator).

Mondo Rock

Mondo Rock were an 80s institution in popular Australian rock, a big draw on the live circuit who charted numerous hits. The band was formed in late 1976 by frontman Ross Wilson and went through various line-up changes to start with. They reform from time to time to play (including in April 2007). Takka Takka is a foursome indie rock band from Brooklyn and Queens. Singer-guitarist-keyboardist Gabe Levine says their name comes from "writing songs about war, and it's a painting about war, with machine guns going, 'TAKKA TAKKA.'" Akasha

At least five bands have used the name "Akasha." The first was a Norwegian spacey, electronic prog band, who recorded one album in 1977. For more information on the band, visit progarchives.com. The second Akasha is a Swedish group consisting of five women. The group was inspired by Sri Chinmoy's poetry and songs, and started to sing and play together in 1982.
