Vinko Globokar

Vinko Globokar(born July 7,1934)is a Slovenian composer and trombonist.
He was born in Anderny,France.
Between 1947 and 1955 he lived in Yugoslavia where he played jazz trombone.
He returned to France to study at the Paris Conservatoire (trombone 1955-1959 with Lafosse)and then he studied composition with Luciano Berio in Berlin(1965)before working with Karlheinz Stockhausen at the time of the recording of Aus den Sieben Tagen.

Pauline Oliveros

Composer Pauline Oliveros is a maverick in the field of electronic music. Oliveros' first instrument was the accordion; as a teenager in Texas she played in a 100-piece accordion group that appeared at the rodeo. In 1949 she entered the University of Houston, but in 1952 transferred to San Francisco State College. Oliveros studied music privately with Robert Erickson and began to associate with a loose confederation of like-minded composers; Terry Riley, Steve Reich, and Morton Subotnick among them.

Orrin Evans

Orrin Evans (born 1976) is an American jazz pianist.
Evans was born in Trenton, New Jersey and raised in Philadelphia. He attended Rutgers University, and following this studied with Kenny Barron. He worked as a sideman for Bobby Watson, Ralph Peterson, Duane Eubanks, and Lenora Zenzalai-Helm, and released his debut as a leader in 1994. He signed with Criss Cross Jazz in 1997, recording prolifically with the label. He was awarded a 2010 Pew Fellowships in the Arts.

Brooklyn, New York, United States, March 27, 1936) is a violinist and composer specializing in new music, free improvisation, avant-garde music, and music for dance starting in the early 1960s. Though a native and long time resident of New York City, he has also lived in Boston and has been an active member of the Boston arts community. He now lives in Montreal and Sheffield, Vermont.

Mary Oliver

There are two artists who share this name: 1) Mary Oliver (born in La Jolla, California) is a player of viola, violin, and Hardanger fiddle. She received her Master of Fine Arts from San Francisco State University before going on to get her doctorate in Theory and Practice of Improvisation from the University of California, San Diego. 2) Mary Oliver (born September 10, 1935) is an American poet who has won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Nels Cline

Nels Cline (born in Los Angeles in 1956) is an American guitarist and composer. Currently he is the lead guitarist of the rock band Wilco. Nels began to play guitar at age 12 when his twin brother, Alex Cline took up the drums. Cline is not classically trained. This gives him a unique avant-garde style that many other jazz guitarists fail to match, due to their probable conventional training. He is noted for his apt use of effects pedals and looping devices, which enhances his style and gives his approach to guitar and music a distinct sound.

Kenny Garrett

Kenny Garrett is a jazz saxophonist. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1960. His father was a tenor saxophonist. Kenny's career took off when he joined the Duke Ellington Orchestra in 1978, then led by Duke's son, Mercer Ellington. Three years later he played in the Mel Lewis Orchestra (playing the music of Thad Jones) and also the Dannie Richmond Quartet (focusing on Charles Mingus's music). In 1984 he earned a shot at his first album as a band leader, "Introducing Kenny Garrett". From there, his career has exploded into 11 albums (as a leader) and numerous grammy nominations.
