XYZ

At least two bands are known under the name XYZ. 1. XYZ was a hook-laden heavy metal band. They were considered the unofficial house band of the Los Angeles nightclub The Whiskey in the mid 80's, but major success eluded them.
XYZ began in Los Angeles, California, with members Terry Ilous (vocals), Bobby Pieper (guitar), Patt Fontaine (bass) and Joey Pafumi (drums). An early development deal with Atlantic records led to the recording of their debut album, which quickly got radio play with the hits "Inside Out" and "What Keeps Me Loving You.

Black 'N Blue

Black 'N Blue was a Heavy Metal band that was labeled to be the "next big thing" in the mid 80's, but despite having a loyal fan base, they never broke through commercially.
The group was formed by Jaime St. James (vocals), Tommy Thayer (guitar), Jeff Warner (guitar), Patrick Young (bass) and Pete Holmes (drums) in Portland, Oregon in 1981. By relocating to Los Angeles, they made their debut on the first Metal Massacre compilation with the song "Chains Around Heaven", before landing a major label deal.

Sheriff

There is more than one artist with this name:
Sheriff a Canadian rock band and the Swedish duo Sheriff, deconstructing the music we know as rock, just leaving the essentials. There is also an underground Melbourne garage rock trio performing under the name Sheriff. 1) Sheriff was a Canadian rock band in the early 1980s. The band was formed in 1979 in Toronto, and consisted of vocalist Freddy Curci , guitarist Steve DeMarchi , keyboardist Arnold Lanni, bassist Wolf Hassel and drummer Rob Elliott.

Formed in Oakland California as the Persuaders, Derek Davis (vocals), Ron Freschi (guitar) Jamey Pacheco (drums) Danny De La Rosa (guitar) and Robb Reid (bass) were in childhood and rival bands until they eventually evolved into Babylon A.D (www.babylonad.com). Later as a band, they caught the attention of Arista Records president and industry music mogul Clive Davis who signed them at a showcase in Los Angeles thanks to their impressive three-song demo, home made video and consistent sold out performances in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Heaven's Edge

Heavens Edge was a highly melodic rock band that flirted with AOR. They played a similar style to that of Harem Scarem but came upon the metal scene too late to make many waves.
Mark Evans (vocals), Reggie Wu (guitar/keyboards), Steven Parry (guitar), George "G.G." Guidotti (bass) and David Rath (drums) got together in Philadelphia, PA to form Heavens Edge. With an uncanny ability of fusing hard rock riffs with huge melodies, it wasn't long before their demo tape attracted Columbia records and resulted in a recording contract.

Lita Ford

Lita Ford (born Carmelita Rossanna Ford on September 19, 1958 in London, U.K.) is a hard rock singer and guitarist who achieved popularity during the 1980s. Ford was born in London but is of Italian heritage. She moved with her family to the United States while still very young. She began playing the guitar at age 11. In 1976 at the age of 17 she became one of the founding members of the legendary teenage all-female proto-punk-metal band The Runaways. There she played lead guitar.

The group was formed by brothers, and former Brunette band mates, Johnny (vocals) and Joey Gioeli (guitar). They recruited former Bad English members Neal Schon (guitar, best known for his work in Journey) and Deen Castronovo (drums). Ex Doro and David Lee Roth bassist Todd Jensen rounded out the band.
