Dare

British AOR band fronted by Darren Wharton, formerly of Thin Lizzy. Their debut album in 1988 "Out of the silence" is considered a true classic from every AOR fan around the world. In 1991 they released "Blood from stone" a much heavier hard rock album which is also classic for its genre although it didn't have a great success. After seven years of silence Dare changed their line up , Darren Wharton decided to start producing Dare's albums in his own studio from this point on.

XYZ

At least two bands are known under the name XYZ. 1. XYZ was a hook-laden heavy metal band. They were considered the unofficial house band of the Los Angeles nightclub The Whiskey in the mid 80's, but major success eluded them.
XYZ began in Los Angeles, California, with members Terry Ilous (vocals), Bobby Pieper (guitar), Patt Fontaine (bass) and Joey Pafumi (drums). An early development deal with Atlantic records led to the recording of their debut album, which quickly got radio play with the hits "Inside Out" and "What Keeps Me Loving You.

Atlantic & Lion

Very little is publicly known about Atlantic & Lion at present, other than their members are drawn from Sheffield, Preston, and London, and that the band have made three tracks available to stream, and to download for free, on their bandcamp. Without a band facebook page, the social media anchor for most bands, Atlantic & Lion are certainly not giving too many secrets away, however their latest track ‘I Forgot to Say’ should quickly distract any pangs of curiosity and plunge your attentions into a blissful sea of reverb drenched garage rock.

As Atlantic & Lion currently have no official releases, ‘I Forgot to Say’ stands as the band’s most recent, and most developed, demo. However the track doesn’t suffer from the usual pitfalls that demos are notoriously known for, and instead 'I Forgot to Say' actually benefits from the lo-fi nature of its recording. Fuzzy vocals are balanced upon the jaunty swathes of guitars and echoing percussion, which allows the lyrical nature of the track to retain a resonance without overshadowing the instrumentation. What’s more, while the track could easily be cropped to the more recognizable four minute mark, the final two minutes provide a blistering period of guitar shredding that propels the record from engaging and pleasant, to an experience I’m craving to see live. It is this epic outro that not only cements this track as a well crafted piece of music, but also displays the exciting potential Atlantic & Lion possess in developing their sound further. With rumours the band are currently booking shows for early 2012, I’m certainly keeping my eyes peeled for any dates within a 100 mile radius of wherever I happen to be come the new year.

Heaven

There are at least four groups named "Heaven." 1) Heaven was a heavy metal band from Sydney, Australia that formed in 1980. The band recorded three albums and toured throughout the United States during the 1980s. Since then, Heaven has maintained something of a fragmentary existence, with singer Alan Fryer reviving the name from time to time although no new material has been recorded since 1985. The group's original style was similar to that of AC/DC but in later years went in a more commercial heavy metal direction along the lines of Judas Priest.

The Tubes

There is more than one group called the Tubes. 1) The Tubes are a San Francisco-based theater rock band, popular in the mid 1970s and early 1980s, known for their live performances that combined music performances with many different unique costumes and in some acts they wore leotards with painted on nipples and pubic hair (neither of which points are relevant for evaluating their artistic/musical/political relevance). They made satires of life in the USA; the media, consumerism, and politics. They were often banned in the Midwest USA.
