Sam was born in East Kilbride, Scotland in 1969 but grew up in Halesowen in the Black Country in the West Midlands. His songs evoke the literary songwriting era of the 1970s, echoing the music of Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson and Glen Campbell. Sam has previously written with other artists. He co-wrote ‘Better’ with Tom Baxter (a song covered by Boyzone), and ‘Miracle’, the signature track for the BBC’s Beijing Olympics coverage.
