English
There is more than one artist with the name English. 1) English is the electro-acoustic improv duo of Joe Foster (trumpet, electronics, and non-instruments) and bonnie jones, who plays the exposed circuit boards of digital delay pedals. They have a couple of releases out on their own Rasbliutto label and on Copula. 2) English is a UK hip-hop emcee who has released an album called 'Attack of the Killer Loops'.
bonnie jones
bonnie jones works with sound, text and performance. Born in 1977 in South Korea she was raised by dairy farmers in New Jersey, and currently resides in Baltimore, MD. In sound performances Bonnie plays the circuit boards of digital delay pedals. Her primary sound collaborators are Joe Foster in Korea (as the duet “English”) and andy hayleck. She is also a member of the Performance Thanatology Research Society, a interdisciplinary performance group dedicated to the advancement of a higher histrionics brought on by imminent finalities.
David Scott
David Scott (AKA Dave Zynk) 19 year old musician from Glasgow, Scotland.
Lionel Marchetti
Lionel Marchetti was born in France in 1967. His interest in music resides in the qualities of sound. He is one of a handful of artists who in the mid-to-late 1990s took electroacoustic music out of academic studios and into the free improvisation ring. A scholar who worked at the CFMI (Lyon) and GRM (Paris) studios and published a book on acousmatic composer Michel Chion, Marchetti developed a set-up of microphones and loudspeakers he uses on stage along with tape recorders, prepared CDs, motors and radios.
Burkhard Beins
Burkhard Beins is a Berlin-based percussionist primarily active in electro-acoustic improvisation (EAI). He has a long-standing duo group with tabletop guitarist Keith Rowe (previously of AMM), and is a member of Polwechsel (with Werner Dafeldecker, Michael Moser, John Butcher and Martin Brandlmayr), The Sealed Knot (with Rhodri Davies and Mark Wastell, Perlonex (with Ignaz Schick and Jörg Maria Zeger), Trio Sowari (with Phil Durrant and Bertrand Denzler), activity center (with Michael Renkel) and Phosphor (with a whole bunch of people).
Acte Vide
Acte Vide is an open-ended duo project. It consists of a series of improvised sessions that happen spontaneously and at intermittent periods, and involve mainly piano and laptop, but extend to voice, percussion, and any found object in sight. Acte Vide is also a constant circle of reactivity between two sound sources, two personalities, and two lives. We tend to move around a lot and have often spent long periods of time separated by considerable geographical distance.
Will Guthrie
Australian drummer/percussionist Will Guthrie uses home-made instruments, amplified found and junk, microphones & electronics alongside more conventional drums and cymbals. Originally a drummer he has worked in many different settings of music: live performance, improvisation, studio composition.
Minamo
There are two different artists under the name Minamo: An electro-acoustic rock group and a Free Jazz/Classical Duo. 1. In 1999, the electro-acoustic group Minamo was formed by Keiichi Sugimoto and Tetsuro Yasunaga. In 2000, minamo's self-released CD-R "wakka" was reissued by the New York label Quakebasket. This release was selected by Matmos as one of best sounds in 2001 in The Wire magazine.
In 2001 two new members joined, Yuiichiro Iwashita (guitar) and Namiko Sasamoto (sax, organ), to make the band a quartet. In 2002, first CD album ".kgs" has released by the Tokyo label 360 records.
Rick Reed
Born in 1957, Reed came to music by way of the visual arts. He had originally studied painting and creative design, but after being inspired in the mid-70's by early albums of groups such as Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, he soon discovered a natural link between abstract art and abstract music. On moving to Austin in early 1980, he began making his own recordings of electronic sounds using cheap tape recorders and analog synthesizers.
