Sleeper Service

Sleeper Service are a Leeds based folk/alt-rock collective started by Rory Evers and Will Tapply over the summer of 2008.
The duo began writing songs together whilst still in school and Sleeper Service is their newest manifestation, the genesis of which occurred in early June 2008. Enlisting the help of numerous fellow Leeds musicians: guitarist/mandolin player Jay Ramsurran, pianist/singer Emer MacManus, Henry Ruddell on organ and synths, Dave Walker on drums and James on bass guitar, the band are currently recording a full length album.

Scout Niblett

Emma Louise Niblett (born 29 September 1973) is a British singer-songwriter, known by the pseudonym Scout Niblett. Her music is frequently minimalist in style, many of her songs consisting merely of vocals accompanied by either drums or guitar, which she mostly plays herself. She is known for her intimate live shows and her blond wig while performing. She is currently living in the United States, where she has worked with the influential producer Steve Albini.

Artist Type:

Black Math

With their drum-machine-powered, infectious fuzzed-out goth, Black Math bring to mind the Jesus and Mary Chain (or, if you ask them, Siouxsie and the Banshees), but with more layers to pick apart. Xina’s vocals float like the open sky above dark clouds, and she plays the cello! Jimmy’s synth and sharp drum patterns bring a shadowy dark-wave element, while Andrew’s wall-of-sound guitar harkens back to the aforementioned 1980s shoegazers.

Hunting Grounds

HUNTING GROUNDS are in it for the long haul. Their debut album may be be titled IN HINDSIGHT, but here is a sextet that is looking ahead with a firm grasp on the realities and possibilities of past and present. There is a degree of dramatic irony buried within the concise title of this very vast album. Everything about In Hindsight is vast, the themes, the sounds, of course even the number of performers on it. Hunting Grounds is by nature a very cohesive, collaborative effort.

Artist Type:

Arizona

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Arizona was an indie rock band formed in Brooklyn, NY. The band is currently on indefinite hiatus. The members are now working on other projects, including Wages (www.wageswages.com) and New Beard (www.newbeardcity.com). Arizona first formed as a three piece in 2005 when founding members Ben Wigler, Nick Campbell, and Alex Hornbake recorded debut EP "The Sun and The Room" which had artwork contributed by Brooklyn artist Deems (www.inaspoon.com).

Sounds Like Violence

SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE convey their white-hot, angsty music with a crushing sense of urgency. A melting pot of emotive sensibilities, they roar, wail and gush melody with the greatest of skill. Their raw, tactile edge is utterly devoid of any kind of preened finish, leaving it stripped to the core and downright gritty, gripping and real. The band have their own way of softening the brash sound they immerse you in, adding a spoonful of sugar to their bitterly performed rocktastic stomp.
