Pantheon I
Formed in late 2002 and hailing from the city of Oslo in Norway, Pantheon I is an extreme metal band that combines brutality, aggression and speed with heart-wrenching melancholy. Rather than resorting to the use of synths with string samples, the symphonic aspects of their music are highlighted by the use of the cello. The current line-up is composed of KVEBEK on guitar and vocals (DEN SAAKALDTE, ex-1349), SAGSTAD on guitar (TROLLFEST, SARKOM), T.R.S. on bass (1349, DEN SAAKALDTE), MADS G on drums (THE ALL SEEING I, ZEENON), and LIVE JULIANNE on cello.
Celloman
March 2009 will see the release of the 4th Celloman album ‘Sharptown’. The Celloman project began in 2001 with the release of ‘Aquador’. Now a six piece band, Celloman has performed extensively around the UK including most of the big festivals such as Glastonbury and Womad. They have performed in Serbia twice and done a series of gigs in Spain. In 2005 Cellist Ivan Hussey was invited to perform a solo show at the International Cello Festival in Belgrade.
Marsen Jules
Marsen Jules is one of the aliases for the musical output of Martin Juhls from Dortmund/Germany. As Marsen Jules he concerns himself with compression of atmosphere and emotion in the most abstract sense, based on carefully selected sound fragments and quotations. Maybe one could think of ordinary sampling, but Marsen Jules processes another step further. 分島花音
Kanon Wakeshima (分島花音, born July 3, 1988) is a Japanese singer and cellist. She is produced by Mana (known from MALICE MIZER and Moi dix Mois) and debuted with her first single, "still doll", on May 28th, 2008. Her zodiac sign is Cancer and her blood type is A. Wakeshima has been playing the cello since she was three years old and began playing in string ensembles in middle school. By the age of 15 she had participated in a number of joint concerts and classical music performances.
Caroline Dale
Caroline Dale is a British cello player who has performed music for a number of movies, most notably Truly, Madly, Deeply, Hilary and Jackie, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the 2005 film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Caroline has appeared as concert soloist with a number of orchestras including London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic. She has also performed with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page during their 1994 UnLEDed performance on the album No Quarter.
Gaspar Cassado
Gaspar Cassadó i Moreu (September 30, 1897 – December 24, 1966) was a Spanish cellist and composer of the early 20th century.
He was born in Barcelona to a church musician father and began taking cello lessons at age seven.
When he was nine, he played in a recital where Pablo Casals was in the audience; Casals immediately offered to teach him.
The city of Barcelona awarded him a scholarship so that he could study with Casals in Paris.
Amphibic
Amphibic are a London based outfit that was formed in 2000. They signed to Haldern Pop Records in 2004 and have released two albums with them so far. The band consists of songwriter Neal Hoffmann (vocals, guitars, keys), Ollie Barnes (guitars, piano), Joakim Persson (bass, organ), Sebastian Sternberg (drums) and Celine Barry (cello).
Their sound has moved from folk tinged acoustic indie-rock on their debut FILM IN MY HEAD to a more straightforward indie-pop approach on their follow up EP, THERE WERE MILLIONS OF THEM.
A Band of Buriers
A Band of Buriers is an English alternative folk band that blends both folk and alternative rap elements together. Their unique acoustic sound encompasses dreamy melodies and intense string reverberations with abstract and imaginative poetry woven throughout. This intriguing combination of styles was developed by James P Honey and Jamie Romain who are oftentimes accompanied by Matthew Romain (violin), James Reindeer (field recordings), Mesparrow (vocals) and Nadia D’ Alò (vocals).
