Chris Potter

Chris Potter (born January 1, 1971) is an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. Potter has released a number of albums as leader and has performed and recorded with many leading musicians including Kenny Werner, Red Rodney, Marian McPartland, the Mingus Big Band, Paul Motian, Ray Brown, Jim Hall, James Moody, Dave Douglas, Joe Lovano, Mike Mainieri, Steve Swallow, Steely Dan, Dave Holland, Joanne Brackeen, and many more.

Frequency

There are at least six bands that share the name Frequency. 1. Formed in September 2006, Frequency is a Delhi based Nu-Age/Electronic/Experimental Band. The band is getting noticed immensely due to its unique sound. Rony, Kushal and Akshay knew each other well and where later joined in by Abhishek and Noel to complete the line-up. Since all the members are from different backgrounds in terms of their individual music tastes, it gives rise to a totally new and original sound.

Fred Hersch

Fred Hersch (born October 21, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is a contemporary American jazz pianist who has become a consistent and highly demanded performer on the international jazz scene. Hersch began playing piano at a very young age and graduated from the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. His teachers included Sophia Rosoff. He moved to New York City in the late 1970s where he soon found a place playing with notable artists such as Stan Getz, Joe Henderson, Lee Konitz, and Charlie Haden.

Terri Lyne Carrington

Terri Lyne Carrington (born in Medford, Massachusetts in 1965) is a world-renowned drummer, composer, producer and clinician. At seven, she was given her first set of drums, which had belonged to her grandfather, Matt Carrington. He had played with Fats Waller and Chu Berry. After studying privately for three years, she played her first major performance at the Wichita Jazz Festival with Clark Terry. At age 11 she received a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music. At 12 years old she was profiled on the PBS kids' biography program Rebop.

Aaron Cohen - Downbeat "Kneebody Creating a New Language" At first, it seems that Kneebody chose a name that intentionally invited anonymity. After speaking to a couple members of the quintet, it becomes clear that they also took a firm stance against presenting a single bandleader. Equally crucial is that they wanted to invent a word that conveys no preconceived musical connotations. "It's a nonsense word that my girlfriend came up with," said saxophonist Ben Wendel. "We wanted a short, memorable word with a nondefinable genre connection.

Matana Roberts

Matana Roberts is a jazz saxophonist, composer and improviser based in New York City.[1] She is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM).[2] The Jazz Journalists Association selected Roberts as a finalist nominee for the 2008 "Up and Coming Musician of the Year" award (which Lionel Loueke ultimately won).[3] Born in Chicago, Illinois, Roberts was raised on the city's South Side and studied classical clarinet during her youth.

There are at least two musical acts named Splice 1. Alias of Omni Trio 2. One half of swedish Techno duo Skudge releasing solo stuff. 3. Splice is a Jazz Quartet consisting of:
Robin Fincker – tenor sax / clarinet

Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay – bass / electronics
Dave Smith – drums
They play a mixture of contemporary jazz, free improv, loud and soft noise, punk grit, ambient music, and more… with seamless blends or blunt juxtapositions.

Zespół został założony przez Wojtka Oleksiaka (dr) i Stefana Nowakowskiego (b) w 2008 r. Po kilku próbach, paru koncertach i przeglądach do składu dołączył Michał Załęski (k), a następnie Michał Przerwa – Tetmajer (g). W tymże naszpikowanym muzykami z Wydziału Jazzu na Bednarskiej w Warszawie składzie nagraliśmy swoje drugie demo – efekt do posłuchania powyżej. The band was formed by Wojtek (dr) and Stefan (b) in 2008.

Marc Copland

Born 27 May 1948, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, Copland was a part of the vibrant music scene in Philadelphia as a saxophonist before going to New York where he met John Abercrombie and also played with Chico Hamilton, and others. He experimented with the electric alto but gradually became dissatisfied with the direction his music was taking and, leaving New York, quit playing the sax in order to study piano.
