Star

Note* First there are two different (perhaps even more: please verify) and distinct artists named Star. For the sake of knowing the difference I will cover what I know about each artist. Please excuse my knowledge of the late 90's Star, there is little information about this artist online. Star - Releasing only one album, in 1999 called Triune on Heat Records, Star's music is a mix of Electronic club dance music, r&b, soul, and late 90's funk. The members of Star are:

Artist Type:

Born Gold

Born Gold is the high-energy, beat-driven songwriting project of Canadian pop experimentalist Cecil Frena. Caught in an unusual dialogue between future-leaning electronic music, harsh noise and mainstream pop, Born Gold conjures stuttering, blown-out and chopped guitar peals, erratic, bubbling synth arpeggios, sparkling drum machine peals and bursts of meticulously processed digital noise. Oh, and hooks, hooks, hooks.

Artist Type:

The Telescopes

The Telescopes were formed in 1987 by Stephen Lawrie and could best be described as a noise/space rock band. Their debut release was a split flexi disc with Loop on the Cheree label in 1988. There followed their debut single, "Kick the Wall", and "7th# Disaster" also on Cheree Records. They moved to What Goes On Records and released their debut LP, "Taste" and "The Perfect Needle" single which is perhaps their most famous song.

Party in Hiroshima

www.myspace.com/partyinhiroshima
"Party in Hiroshima make it their job to find a space for delicacy in a nightmare of blast waves and falling debris. A pure but urgent voice floats over a drama of guitar clanging, electronic noise and collapsing rhythms. In their words, this is glitchpop in post-rock. Children of the days of Throwing Muses and Dead Can Dance." (OppositionT) "Electro tinged rock. Girl singer bestrides techy, samples laden riffology.

Artist Type:

Carousel

There are multiple artists with the name Carousel: 1) The Carousel - early 90s indiepop/twee band from England with former Talulah Gosh/Razorcuts members, who recorded for the Cosmic English label and had later CD releases from the Vinyl Japan label. 2) An incorrect artist tag for a Broadway musical by Rodgers & Hammerstein. 3)A Chicagoland post rock and alternative band. 4) New Zealand acoustic guitar, cello, violin, mandolin quartet.

Artist Type:

Fever Dream

Fever Dream were formed in London at the end of 2010, and played their first gig at a Christmas party which featured a cardboard cutout of Larry David. Their moniker is based on a short story by sci-fi author Ray Bradbury, and their sound is a sparse mixture of post-punk and shoegaze.

Artist Type:

Xray Eyeballs

"XRay Eyeballs is OJ and Carly (from NYC rockers Golden Triangle) new drum machine driven dark punk project. Bathed in reverb, low fi sheen, and weirdo grit, XRay Eyeballs sounds like two drifter kids covered in makeup and glitter trying to escape a dead city skyline proclaiming their love for each other as the world just passes them by. Creeped out and charming all at once. If the world died but the songs kept playing." - SDREED, Night-People Records

Artist Type:

Dum Dum Girls

The sound of the Dum Dum Girls, actually consisting of only girl Dee Dee (aka Kristen Gundred of Grand Ole Party), is categorized as "blissed out buzzsaw". Headquarter-ing in Los Angeles, Dum Dum Girls have a similar sound to the Vivian Girls, among other stereotypical comparisons to female fronted lofi bands.

Artist Type:

White Fang

White Fang is four lifelong friends (Erik Gage, Kyle Handley, Jimmy Leslie, Chris Uehlein). Formed in Portland, OR in 2005 while still in high school, first as a recording band, then as a folk band, then as a punk band, then as a noise band, then as a punk band again. There used to be a lot of people in the band, rotating on a undefined lineup, including past, present and future members of Boom! and Typhoon.
