Michael Norris

Michael Norris is a Wellington-based composer. He holds composition degrees from Victoria University of Wellington and City University, London. He has held the positions of Composer-in-Residence with the Southern Sinfonia and the Mozart Fellowship, and currently lectures in composition at the New Zealand School of Music. In 2003, Michael won the Douglas Lilburn Prize, a nationwide competition for orchestral composers. He is also co-founder and co-director of Stroma New Music Ensemble.

Stefano Tedesco is musician and sound artist.
He has solo projects using vibraphone, percussion, objects, electronics and feedback. His sound installation are based on field recordings. Other projects involve video, dance. He is member of the David Toop trio together with Phil Durrant. He performed in trio with Rhodri Davies and Joe Williamson, as well as with Tim Hodgkinson and Elio Martusciello and recently with Stefano Pilia and Andrea Belfi.

Yasunao Tone

YASUNAO TONE (刀根康尚) was one of the first Japanese artists active in composing "events" and improvisational music. He has been active in the Fluxus movement since 1962 and has also been an organizer and participant in many important music and performance groups such as Group Ongaku, Hi-Red Center, Team Random (the first computer art group organized in Japan). Primarily a composer, Tone has worked in many media, creating pieces for electronics, computer systems, film, radio and television, as well as environmental art.

John Wynne

John Wynne has a PhD in sound art from Goldsmiths College, University of London. He was artist-in-residence at Harefield Hospital, one of the world’s leading heart and lung transplant centres – a project with outcomes including pieces for BBC Radio 3 and for CBC (Canada) and, in collaboration with Tim Wainwright, a surround-sound video shown at TATE Britain and a 24-channel photographic sound installation (London, 2008). His work with endangered click-languages resulted in an award-winning ‘composed documentary’ for BBC radio and an installation shown in Botswana, Namibia and London.

James Murray

James Murray is a composer, music producer and multi-instrumentalist. His productions combine delicate sound design and manipulated acoustic recordings, and tend towards a low-tempo, reflective aesthetic. The critically acclaimed debut Where Edges Meet was released on Ultimae Records in 2008 and forms the centre-piece of a small, considered catalogue released internationally over a seven year period.

Marsen Jules is one of the aliases for the musical output of Martin Juhls from Dortmund/Germany. As Marsen Jules he concerns himself with compression of atmosphere and emotion in the most abstract sense, based on carefully selected sound fragments and quotations. Burkhard Beins is a Berlin-based percussionist primarily active in electro-acoustic improvisation (EAI). He has a long-standing duo group with tabletop guitarist Keith Rowe (previously of AMM), and is a member of Polwechsel (with Werner Dafeldecker, Michael Moser, John Butcher and Martin Brandlmayr), The Sealed Knot (with Rhodri Davies and Mark Wastell, Perlonex (with Ignaz Schick and Jörg Maria Zeger), Trio Sowari (with Phil Durrant and Bertrand Denzler), activity center (with Michael Renkel) and Phosphor (with a whole bunch of people).
