From the northern parts of Sweden, the heavy doom/metal band Mortalicum was formed early 2006 by Patrick Backlund. The band consists of the tight rhythm section Patrick Backlund (bass), Mikael Engström (guitar) and Andreas Häggström (drums) and the distinct voice and solos by Henrik Högl. When rewinding the time a little, we find out that Mortalicum was at first only a studio project. Patrick wrote and recorded several songs during the first two years, songs on which he did all the instrumental tracks.
Slint was a math rock band consisting of Brian McMahan (guitar and vocals), David Pajo (guitar), Britt Walford (drums), Todd Brashear (bass on Spiderland) and Ethan Buckler (bass on Tweez). They formed in Louisville, Kentucky, United States in 1986. Though they disbanded circa 1991, they are considered to be a major influence on the post-hardcore, math rock, and post-rock scenes. Slint's first album Tweez was recorded by legendary engineer Steve Albini in 1987 and released in obscurity on the Jennifer Hartman Records label in 1989.
Mother Mars came into existence in 2002. They lean more towards a sound of heavy fuzzed-out grooves while also taking in elements of the psychedelic and doom.
They are based in Sydney, Australia and have been playing shows since 2003. In mid 2007 they released an ep called 'Take The Ride', an album 'Primitives' in early 2009 and in May 2011 a second full-length release 'Fossil Fuel Blues'. Featuring almost an hour of stoner-doom riffery and psychedelic mayhem, Fossil Fuel Blues is the first Mother Mars release as a three-piece and is overall a big step forward for the band.

Formed in the old wastelands of witchery and paranoia, Cambridgeshire band Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats deliver the new sound of 60s terror. With a limited release in 2010, the album was warmly received with the track 'Witches Garden' appearing on a Classic Rock Magazine cover CD. The band also drew the attention of Leif Edling from legendary doom band Candlemass, who would later recommend them to Lee Dorrian at Rise Above.
