The roots of Brave began in 1997 when brother and sister duo Scott and Michelle Loose began writing diverse, acoustic-based, dark progressive music with their childhood friend and drummer, Trevor Schrotz.

The artist hid her name under the anagram THE RODEO, a word evoking the South of the USA, a style of music which inspired the singer and a hommage to the pioneers of folk, blues and country music. When she was a child, she discovered a treasure in her uncle's attic. Hidden among dusty vinyls and books was a slumbering guitar dating from the mythical 1970's. She then started writing and composing ballads designed as fairy tales for grown-ups, fables without a moral. Her lyrics introduce different characters, places and atmospheres.

Little Big Town

Little Big Town is an American country music band. Formed in 1999, the band has four members: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet. There is no lead singer in the band; instead, they trade lead vocal duties as well as rely on the harmonies of the four members. Little Big Town's self-titled 2002 debut for Sony's Monument Records was panned critically and did not sell commercially. The album had only one minor hit single, "Don't Waste My Time," and it wasn't long before Little Big Town was dropped from the label.

Slint

Slint was a math rock band consisting of Brian McMahan (guitar and vocals), David Pajo (guitar), Britt Walford (drums), Todd Brashear (bass on Spiderland) and Ethan Buckler (bass on Tweez). They formed in Louisville, Kentucky, United States in 1986. Though they disbanded circa 1991, they are considered to be a major influence on the , , and scenes. Slint's first album Tweez was recorded by legendary engineer Steve Albini in 1987 and released in obscurity on the Jennifer Hartman Records label in 1989.

Goldstein

Goldstein is an Adelaide-based folk/roots band that formed in 2006. Their songs focus on the types of things they think typify the Australian way of life such as fishing with your mates, barbecues, watching sport and pubs. They have only recently finished recording their debut album Spurs on my Boots (of which the single Great Fishing was played on Triple J’s Roots n’ All show). Goldstein are currently playing their ‘urban folk’ tunes on the Adelaide pub circuit.
