Shihad

Shihad are a four-piece band from New Zealand, comprising Jon Toogood (guitar/vocals), Tom Larkin (drums), Karl Kippenberger (bass) and Phil Knight (guitar). Their style is best described as "hard rock", although they were described as "metal" in their formative years. Shihad were formed in 1988 in Wellington, New Zealand. They were briefly known between 2002-2004 as "Pacifier". During this time the band was attempting to break into the US market and it was decided that Shihad sounded too much like the arabic word 'jihad', thus the name change. The Superjesus

Lead singer and main song-writer Sarah McLeod formed the band in late 1994 with guitarist (and her guitar teacher at the time) Chris Tennent, drummer Paul Berryman and bass player Stuart Rudd. They were originally called Hell's Kitchen before changing their name to The Superjesus on the eve of the 1994 Big Day Out in Adelaide. Says Paul Berryman of the name: "It was basically just a piss-take on commonly used words in the 90's.

The Mess Hall are a two-piece rock and roll combo based in Sydney, New South Wales that formed in 2001. Widely respected for their live shows, The Mess Hall have toured Australia extensively both in their own right and supporting bands such as You Am I, Jet and The Strokes. They have also toured the US and Japan, notably with fellow Sydney band, Wolfmother. Outside the driving drums and guitar of The Mess Hall, singer/guitarist Jed Kurzel is an acoustic artist of some note. Drummer Cec Condon is a veteran of the Brisbane music scene.

There is more than one artist with this name 1. an Australian, punk, ska punk band formed in 1994 2. A Peruvian all female Nu Metal band formed in 1999 1. Area-7 rose from the ashes of Madness cover band Mad Not Madness. In 1994 three members, Dugald McNaughtan (keyboards), Charles "Chucky T" Thompson (guitar) and Dan Morrison (drums) left the group and began to write their own songs. They formed a band and named it after a lyric from The Specials' Dawning of a New Era.
