In August of 2011, he dropped his second mixtape, Thursday. His third mixtape, Echoes of Silence, was released on December 21 2011. The Weeknd takes his ambivalent emotional tenor and stretches it out, building a whole worldview from it. While most bluesy hard rock acts of the '70s and '80s hailed from the United States (the south, to be exact), there were several exceptions to the rule, such as Canadian singer/guitarist Pat Travers. Born in Toronto on April 12, 1954, Travers first picked up the guitar just prior to entering his teens, after witnessing a local performance by the great Jimi Hendrix. It wasn't long before Travers was studying the other top rock guitarists of the day (Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, etc.), and paying his dues by playing in bar bands in the Quebec area.
SISKIYOU is Colin Huebert and Erik Arnesen. Until recently, Colin Huebert was a member of Great Lake Swimmers. Erik Arnesen continues to play banjo and guitar for Great Lake Swimmers. Their self-titled album was recorded by Huebert inside stairwells, bathrooms, hotel rooms, and on beaches and rooftops in the greater Vancouver area.
Aidan Knight (born October 23, 1986, in Victoria, British Columbia) is a Canadian songwriter and namesake for Canadian experimental folk band, Aidan Knight. Knight has also performed and recorded with The Zolas, Hannah Georgas, Dan Mangan, and We Are the City. For some time, Aidan Knight was known as a helpful backing musician, playing everything from pop-rock bass lines to violent, pounding hardcore drums.
