Mondo Rock

Mondo Rock were an 80s institution in popular Australian rock, a big draw on the live circuit who charted numerous hits. The band was formed in late 1976 by frontman Ross Wilson and went through various line-up changes to start with. They reform from time to time to play (including in April 2007). Scritti Politti

Formed in 1977 in Leeds, England, Scritti Politti is primarily a musical vehicle for singer-songwriter Green Gartside (real name Paul Julian Strohmeyer, b. 22 June 1956, Cardiff, Wales). Initially a left-wing-inspired post-punk British rock group, Scritti Politti developed into a more mainstream pop music project in the early to mid-1980s (following two heavy lineup changes). The Human League

The Human League are an English synthpop band formed in 1977. Originally a minimal post-punk synthesiser-based group from Sheffield, UK, they became one of the most successful new wave acts of the 80s. The only consistent band member is vocalist and songwriter Phil Oakey. Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh were both working as computer programmers in 1977, and combined a love of pop music (such as glam rock and Tamla Motown) with avant garde electronic music. They acquired a Roland System 100 synthesizer and began to create music in their own rehearsal facility.

The Woodentops

The Woodentops began 1983 with Rolo McGinty, Simon Mawby, Alice Thompson, Paul Hookham. Known to busk and perform at South London art house warehouse type venues/parties . Rehearsing at Panni Bahrti's (then Charrington) warehouse Clapham junction, where the band worked until 1988. This was a hotbed of experimental film and graphic design, Panni desgining the bands Vinyl/cd artwork / film and stage show.

Ratt

Ratt formed in Los Angeles, California, USA, and featured Stephen Pearcy (vocals), Robbin Crosby (guitar), Warren DeMartini (guitar), Juan Croucier (bass) and Bobby 'The Blotz' Blotzer (drums). They evolved out of '70s band Mickey Ratt, transforming into their present form in 1983, with a hint of pop about their brand of metal similar to Cheap Trick or Aerosmith. They released a self-titled mini-album in 1983 on a local label, and struck up a close personal friendship with members of Mötley Crüe.

Girls On Film

Girls on Film refers to two different groups of people. One is a new wave, all-girl band from Florida. The other is a film discussion podcast hosted by Heather Stewart and Suzanne Keilly. Hailing from the capitol of Florida, GIRLS ON FILM are an all-female 4-piece whose music is one part lipstick synth-pop and one part icy cold new wave. Their fashion fueled lyrics and high energy stage antics have earned them a reputation as one of the hottest new wave acts out of the Southeast.
