Katharine Blake

Katharine Blake (born in 1970 in London, UK) is the founder, main composer and musical director of the unique choral group the Mediaeval Baebes. The band was formed in 1996 and has released five studio albums, two compilation albums, a live album and a DVD. The Baebes have toured extensively, mainly throughout the UK, Canada and America. The other project Katharine is known for is Miranda Sex Garden of which Katharine was a founder member, lead singer, songwriter and lyricist. Formed in 1990 the band started out as a busking Madrigal trio.

Spiritual Front

Spiritual Front is a neofolk band from Rome, Italy. Its members describe their music as "nihilist suicide pop", although elements of neoclassical and rock music are prevelant, along with a recurring experimental feel. The band began in 1999 as a project fronted by Simone Salvatori (a.k.a. "Hellvis"), a guitarist and singer from Italy, and has since worked extensively with other projects in the same genre of neofolk, along with releasing their own music to the public.

Awen

There are three bands with this name: 1) , A Dallas Texas-based Neofolk Martial Industrial band by Erin Powell and Eric Kristoffer (http://www.myspace.com/Awenmusic) 2) A mid-ninties synthetic metal project that made all of its tracks on the ancient and all-powerful Amiga 500 and Amiga 1200, 3), a Newage/Berlin School Ambient band. The name and origin of the producer is not known.

Naevus

There is more than one band called Naevus. 1. A London-based Welsh duo formed in 1998 by Lloyd James and Joanne Owen, later including band members John Murphy (of Associates, KnifeLadder, etc.) and Greg Ferrari (of Womb). Often categorised as part of the 'neo-folk' genre, their songs have little in common with other acts in that area, bar the use of acoustic guitar. More obvious similarities can be found with groups such as Swans, Luxuria, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and David E. Williams.

Andrew King

Andrew King is an English folk singer, neofolk musician and traditionalist, presenting renditions of traditional songs and ballads, both a capella and with minimalist instrumentation, sometimes with an influence from post-industrial music. His initial creative work was in the visual arts. After many years of experimentation, he dates his mature work from the first of his Emblematic paintings in 1991.

Johnny Powell

During 2009, Johnny Powell began the creation of a large collection of alternative folk material for his new solo project using the harp, acoustic guitar, vocals and electronics as the major instruments (www.johnnypowell.com). The songs also involve a variety of strange and unexpected recorded clips and the use of unusual, yet meaningful objects (e.g. curtain rails, toy cars, high heels, graveyard noises etc.) all designed to have symbolic links to the lyrics, and add intentional atmosphere to the music.

Hexvessel

Hexvessel is a psychedelic folk-rock band that was founded by Englishman Mat "Kvohst" McNerney, vocalist for blackmetal bands Dødheimsgard and Code. He moved to Finland in 2009 and was joined by a coven of musicians from Tampere that feature members of Galacticka and Dark Buddha Rising. Fusing late 1960s and early 1970s English folk and psychedelia with a love for Finnish nature, pagan mysticism, folklore and the occult, they play a witches brew of acoustic balladry and heavy tripped-out atmospherics. Interior-world-music for secret ceremonies and forest rituals.
