Guernica

There is more than one artist with this name. Here they are described in order of popularity on Last.fm. 1) Guernica (ゲルニカ), presumably named after the famous painting Guernica by Pablo Picasso, this Japanese trio from the 1980s specializes in music in a retro 1920's and 30's cabaret style. Their early recordings are primarily electronic (using synthesizers instead of traditional acoustic instruments) but their later works are performed by a live orchestra.

LCMDF

LCMDF are the Finnish Emma and Mia Kemppainen. If a bell is ringing, it could well be that you recognise this duo as two thirds of 2008's gnarliest electro merchants Le Corps Mince de Françoise. But after a streamlining of both moniker and line-up, the bandit mask face-paint is no more and this time the vibeometer has been clicked firmly onto heady good-times. With a sudden synth stab there is an eruption of technicolor energy and somehow the world is just feeling a much poppier place.

Neon Neon

Neon Neon is a collaboration between the artists Boom Bip and Gruff Rhys. They first worked together on Boom Bip's Blue Eyed in the Red Room album, released in 2005. Their debut album, Stainless Style was released on March 18th, 2008 through Lex Records. Their first single Trick for Treat is also out, and can be heard on their myspace page. The album "Stainless Style" was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Prize.

A Terrible Splendour

A Terrible Splendour is a musical project from MM Lyle and Martin Block. The sound is a fusion of electro, pop and cabaret, with lyrical and stylistic influences coming from early 80's New Romanticism and the Weimar Republic. The material here is from their six-song demo. The Russians/Slaves to the City double A-side was released on iTunes in 2010.
