Kontinuum

1) Kontinuum Icelandic Ambient Metal
Kontinuum started as the brainchild of Birgir Thorgeirsson, a founding and current member of dark metal act Potentiam. The seed of Kontinuum started way back in 2001 when Birgir teamed up with former Potentiam drummer Kristjan Heidarsson to record an EP called Burned and Battered under the band name Pornea. This was an experimental metal project mixing doom with punk and dark atmospheric metal.

We Made God

We Made God are the latest Icelandic band to step up to the mark and their debut album delivers soaring, epic, driving rock of the highest calibre. The fourpiece are early 20-something’s Maggi (vocals, guitars), Arnór (guitars), Stuni (bass) and Biggi (drums). From the gentle introspection to brutal noise of album opener Gizmo to the pyschedlic riffing of the Deftones-esque “Bathwater” and the gentle floating guitars of “The Color”, “As We Sleep” was entirely produced by We Made God and shows a band at the height of their powers.

Hella

Hella began in 2001 in Sacramento, California as a two member band consisting of Zach Hill and Spencer Seim writing technically intricate music of a highly spastic nature. They play a blend of math rock and noise rock. On early albums, the band forged their classic sound, playing minimally arranged, abrasive instrumentals that still retain an idiosyncratic sense of melody. In 2005, the band expanded their live band by adding Dan Elkan on vocals, rhythm guitar, and synth and Jonathan Hischke on bass guitar.

Jacob's Stories

Started in the Summer of 2003 as a collection of four track songs made for friends, Jacob's Stories is music made by a bearded singer songwriter named Stuart Lee. To date he has released three split singles (with Tyler, Good Morning Captain and Metronomes, respectively), a three song E.P ('Bird') and two full-lengths - 'Fledgling' (2006, Gravity DIP) and 'Undisciplined Art' (2008, self-released). Often compared to Hood, Sigur Ros, Talk Talk, and Radiohead, Jacob's Stories is best described as semi-electronic, mainly piano/organ-based, downtempo indie.

...And Stars Collide

...And Stars Collide are a band from Nottingham, England that fit most closely into the genre labelled post-rock, playing guitar-driven instrumental music with a strong emphasis on dynamics. RecordsOnRibs.com note that while "post-rock is 99% tedium", ...And Stars Collide prove "there's still plenty to be done with that 1%". Having recently self-financed their debut record in the form of a half-hour EP, the band are now seeking opportunities to promote the release through live performances, compilation appearances and press coverage.
