Barzin is a Canadian singer-songwriter named Barzin Hosseini. Slow and melancholic, introspective and confessional: These words in some ways describe the sound of Barzin. A project that began sometime in 1995, Barzin was a solo endeavor at its inception. But somewhere along the way it shed its solitary skin allowing a wide array of characters into it’s sound. From amongst a rotating cast of musicians, who occasionally made appearances on recordings and at performances, three individuals slowly became a fixture of this project.
1. Arrows were an English American band based in London, England. The group, which formed in 1974 and disbanded in 1977, included singer/bassist Alan Merrill, guitarist Jake Hooker and drummer Paul Varley. They had hit singles in 1974 and 1975 with "Touch Too Much",[1] "My Last Night With You" and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," all produced by Mickie Most on RAK Records.[2] "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" was later covered by Joan Jett.[3]
Fu is a Polish rapper. He's been active on the hip-hop scene since it's very beginnings in Poland. He is known for working with bands like ZIP Skład and Zipera. He was first heard in 1998 on DJ 600V's album "Produkcja Hip-Hop", where he appeared together with other mamebers of Zip Skład. After that, he appeared on Wzgórze Ya-pa-3's album "Ja Mam To Co Ty" and on a compilation called "Hip-Hopowy Raport z Osiedla". In 1999 he made a guest appearance on another compilation "600 Kilovolt" by DJ 600V and in September Zip Skład released it's first album "Chleb Powszedni".
Hazards Of Swimming Naked are an instrumental group originating from Far North Queensland (Innisfail/Johnstone Shire). Their music is a reflection of their surrounding environment and isolated townships and of the imposition of society on this environment and the way people interact with it. This sound has drifted over the years from dense terrorscapes to late night grooves to dreamy, serendipitous currents and paranoid messes.
...And Stars Collide are a band from Nottingham, England that fit most closely into the genre labelled post-rock, playing guitar-driven instrumental music with a strong emphasis on dynamics. RecordsOnRibs.com note that while "post-rock is 99% tedium", ...And Stars Collide prove "there's still plenty to be done with that 1%". Mojave 3 are a dream pop/folk band which formed in Reading, England in 1993. The band consists of Neil Halstead (vocals, guitar), Rachel Goswell (vocals, guitar, bass), Simon Rowe (guitar), Alan Forrester (organ, vocals), and Ian McCutcheon (drums). Goswell, Halstead and McCutcheon were previously members of the shoegaze band Slowdive. The band initially existed as a trio consisting of Halstead, Goswell, and McCutcheon (hence the "3" in their name).
