Glockenspiel

Here is a description and some reviews of Glockenspiel.. Glockenspiel started as the title for Adrian Dollemore’s cd-r collections of minature bedroom experiments using tapes, electronics and guitars through chains of effects who then progressed to playing with Steve D’Enton (old friend of the ’sHRiMP & ex-Quickspace sticksman) on drum kit - Steve’s “direct but tactile style driving straight through the x-axis of Adrian’s skyward guitar, as cymbals and hi-hats delicately ring and splash over his motorik anchor.

the host

Since forming in 2006, The Host has become a staple of the Hard Rock scene in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. What started out as a labor of love for the four-piece has become an outright obsession. "The need to write and perform outweighs anything else in our lives, and we work hard to ensure that everything we do has a special quality to it," says Host singer, Chris Charlton. Drawing on a full spectrum of musical influences, The Host's overall sound lies around the edges of bands like Muse, The Mars Volta, and Queens of the Stone Age.

Gifts From Enola

Gifts From Enola is a band from Virginia that juxtaposes elements of post-rock with a burgeoning hard-rock approach and a touch of the "experimental" style, to soften that harshness. Some songs explode with blistering intensity and then sink slowly back into sonic landscapes with a milder disposition. At some points, the sound climbs out of that landscape, developing an ambient texture salted with a few field recordings. Their use of hypnotic riffs can be singularly effective.

Reigns

Operatives A & B began recording for the Reigns organisation in 2002. Their first album, “We Lowered a Microphone into the Ground”, was a series of recordings made within a seemingly “bottomless” hole found upon the Somerset Downs. Their follow-up, “Styne Vallis”, was recorded in and around a submerged village that had been evacuated and strategically flooded in 1970 to make way for a new reservoir. “The House on the Causeway”, out in March 2009 on Monotreme Records, is their third long player.

d_rradio

d_rradio began releasing recordings in 2003. Their odd name (pronounced D. R. Radio) stands for deathrowradio - the intention of their music is to bring comfort and light to the most dark and difficult hours. Thriving on organic melodies and digital soundscapes, d_rradio's first public ventures were lugubriously soporific affairs. A spilt 7" with Marcia Blaine School For Girls on the Awkward Silence label, was followed two months later by the 'Dust And Guitars' 7" on Static Caravan - both of which received regular airplay from John Peel and sold out super fast.
