Injuns

Some treasures are way off the map… Since Injuns broke cover in early 2007 with their debut Lionel, It’s A Complicated World, they have enjoyed the mixed blessing of being the black sheep of Scotland’s independent music scene. Critical success for that album and their intense live performances was followed by an acknowledgment that here was something different – a group of writers and performers that were determined to follow their own, unpaved path. With a typical overflow of ideas and a five star (The List) live ensemble, 2009 finds them in no mood for turning back…

Artist Type:

Black Math

With their drum-machine-powered, infectious fuzzed-out goth, Black Math bring to mind the Jesus and Mary Chain (or, if you ask them, Siouxsie and the Banshees), but with more layers to pick apart. Xina’s vocals float like the open sky above dark clouds, and she plays the cello! Jimmy’s synth and sharp drum patterns bring a shadowy dark-wave element, while Andrew’s wall-of-sound guitar harkens back to the aforementioned 1980s shoegazers.

Now, almost 30 years later it is with the sentiments of this iconic building that Liverpool’s latest and most innovative sound has evolved. The Rialto Burns are the five strong Adam (vocals), Pottsy (bass), Alex and Cogsy (guitars) and Dan (drums).
