The Getaway Plan is an alternative rock band based in Australia. The band formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 2004, comprising of vocalist/guitarist Matthew Wright, guitarist Clint Splattering, bassist Dave Anderson and drummer Aaron Barnett. Their debut release was a demo in 2004. In 2006 The Getaway Plan signed to Boomtown Records and made their debut release through a label, an EP titled Hold Conversation.

The band was formed by guitarists Arthur "Ace" Enders (who was born on April 19th and grew up in Bass River, New Jersey, before moving to Hammonton, New Jersey) & Jim Sacco along with bassist Sergio Anello and drummer Jeff Kummer in Hammonton, New Jersey in February 2001. Together, they recorded a 5 track demo in Enders' basement and sent it, along with a poorly edited videotape to only one label: Drive-Thru Records.

They took metal and put a whole different spin on it combining elements of metal and hardcore fusing a sound never heard before by the virgin ears of metal listeners worldwide. Sharing the stage with Emmure and Winds of Plague they were easily identified in the scene.
