1) an American alternative rock band that formed in 1987 and split in 1991
2) a francophone indie garage rock formed in 2002 in Montreal, Canada, and now known as Galaxie 1) Galaxie 500 formed in Boston, MA in 1986 and comprised vocalist/guitarist Dean Wareham (a transplanted New Zealand native), bassist Naomi Yang and drummer Damon Krukowski, longtime friends who first met in high school in New York City before all three attended Harvard University.
The Polyphonic Spree are a psychedelic pop group which formed in 2000 in Dallas, Texas, United States. The band's core members are Tim DeLaughter (lead vocals, guitar), Mark Pirro (bass) and Bryan Wakeland (drums), all former members of the alternative rock band Tripping Daisy. The band also contains 5 backing vocalists and 12 musicians. The band's lineup has generally been stable since their formation.
Dean & Britta is a musical duo consisting of Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips, both former members of Luna. Wareham had formed Luna in 1992 after leaving his first band, Galaxie 500. Phillips joined Luna in 2000, replacing bassist Justin Harwood. Their first album started out as a Wareham solo project, but when he heard Phillips' demos, he asked her to join him. After Luna broke up in 2005, Dean & Britta spent the next year working on film scores (most notably Noah Baumbach's movie, The Squid and the Whale), and promoting the documentary film of Luna's farewell tour Tell Me Do You Miss Me.

Starship is an American rock band that operated from 1985 to 1989, reforming in 1992. In 1984, Paul Kantner left Jefferson Starship (San Francisco, California, USA). His former bandmates wanted to continue as Jefferson Starship, but Kantner, as the last founding member of Jefferson Airplane, took legal action over the "Jefferson" name. Kantner settled out of court and signed an agreement that neither party would use the names "Jefferson" or "Airplane" unless all members of Jefferson Airplane, Inc.
The Brunettes were formed in Auckland, New Zealand in 1998 by musical couple Jonathan Bree and Heather Mansfield. They were a paradox from the beginning - creating boy/girl melodramatic pop inspired by 70s New York punk and 60s girl groups but surrounded in an Auckland scene of opiate-infused garage rock 'n' roll. Let's Whisper is the sweet bedroom pop duo project of Colin Clary and Dana Kaplan of the Smittens. They write dreamy soft songs and have recorded a few songs that have appeared on compilations. They live in Burlington, Vermont. They released an ep, "Make Me Smile" on the WeePOP! label on July 17th, 2008 and are currently at work on their first full-length album which will hopefully be completed this year.
The All New Adventures of Us (Tanaou, to their fans) are the kind of band it is impossible for anyone to hate. After minor changes over the years, the band has settled on its current line-up. The seven Adventurers (Paul Macefield, Phil Spry, Kate Williams, Chris Jones, Jaime C. Macefield, Gary Fleming and Nic Willes) combine eloquently to make musical and poetic harmony through the medium of song. As one member once stated, "No matter how simple or complex, songs are maps to places that people can't physically go, escape plans to take us away from the towns and cities that suffocate us."
