Garage Rock

Grinderman is a Australian garage rock band formed by Nick Cave (vocals, electric guitar, organ, piano), Warren Ellis (electric bouzouki, Fendocastor, violin, viola, acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Martyn P. Casey (bass, acoustic guitar, backing vocals) and Jim Sclavunos (drums, percussion, backing vocals), all of whom are members of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. After heavy touring throughout 2005 with The Bad Seeds in support of Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus, Cave began writing songs on guitar, an instrument he'd rarely played.

The Beginning:
The band started out as What About Frank? in 2004 in Red Bank, New Jersey. During their career as What About Frank? they were twice recognized as Best Live Band at the Asbury Music Awards. They played many many shows including the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, the Van's Warped Tour, The Great Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and South by Southwest. Their debut self-titled release was one of the top-selling albums in local retail, and received airplay on both satellite and commercial radio.

The Eviltones deliver prime garage stomp with masterful surf-punk guitar, red raw vocals and a big bad hammerhead rhythm section pounding out the brutal and bloody backbeat to a concrete jungle call.
Worshipping and invoking the restless, haunted ancestry that runs from the delta blues through 60’s garage into punk rock; The Eviltones devilishly distil the myths and spectres from the dark side of rock’n’roll history into high-octane, prime slices of furious death-dance burn-out boogie.

For The Orwells, Remember When will be an introduction of sorts—the 12-track rat-race shows the band’s repertoire of pranging riffs and sneering, snot-nosed vocals. The tracks are a walloping war-cry from a generation that up until this point has only offered bubblegum pop—the animus of The Orwells. It’s quite clear early on the in listening to the LP that the band is well aware of the past, the homage rings through the record, using the ghost of punk’s past as their musical sprit guide.
