Heather Leigh

Heather Leigh Murray is a very active performer, playing and recording solo, as well as with Scorces, Charalambides, Taurpis Tula, Dream/Aktion Unit, Jandek etc. Her main instruments are pedal steel and voice. She is currently romantically involved with, as well as member in the same band (Taurpis Tula) as WIRE contributor David Keenan, who also owns and operates the influential record store/distro/label Volcanic Tongue.

France Jobin aka i8u (b. 1958) is a sound / installation / web artist residing in Montreal, Canada. i8u's audio art can be qualified as "sound-sculpture". It reveals powerful, opaque and complex sound environments where analog and digital meet. Her installation/web art can be said to follow a parallel path, incorporating both musical and visual elements. i8u has created solo recordings for ROOM40 (Australia), bake/staalplaat (Netherlands), as well as many collaborations notably with Goem, Martin T

Gate

There are multiple artists by the name of Gate: 1.) Michael Morley is a rock and experimental musician from New Zealand. Morley sings and plays guitar as a member of The Dead C, but also records on his own (and with collaborators) as Gate. Earlier, in the 1980's, Morley was a member of Wreck Small Speakers on Expensive Stereos. Morley founded the Precious Metal label sometime in the late 1980's to document, first on cassette and later LP and CD, his own work as Gate. Most of the releases on Precious Metal were limited to very small quantities.

Ultrasound are a British indie band who were active in the late 1990s. Although fronted by singer/guitarist Andrew "Tiny" Wood, their principal songwriter was guitarist Richard Green. Wood, Green and drummer Andy Peace had previously worked together in Sleepy People, and the line-up was completed by Matt Jones (keyboards) and Vanessa Best (bass/vocals).

Creature With the Atom Brain

Creature with the Atom Brain is a Belgian alternative rock band consisting of Millionaire keyboardist Aldo Struyf (Guitar/Keys/Vocals), Dave Schroyen (Drums), Jan Wygers (Bass) and Michiel Van Cleuvenbergen (Guitar). The band have been said to make "fuzzy stripped-back rock’n'roll noise with a generous helping of weird." The band's name is taken from the Roky Erickson & the Aliens song (which in turn was taken from the 1955 film of the same name), with Struyf citing Erickson's former band the 13th Floor Elevators and the man himself as influencing Creature with the Atom Brain's sound.

Blackwater may refer to at least 3 artists:
1) a French group of Celtic music caracterized for its energic sound and accurate control over the instruments. Inspired by bands like Kataklysm, Hate Eternal, Bloodbath, Behemoth etc... 3) A London-based classic rock band comprising Tommy Balaam (vocals/guitar), George McKenzie (Guitar), Rory Murphy (Vocals/bass) and Bryce Dunn (Drums).

Celebrity Chimp

Celebrity Chimp was originally a banjo and drums duo. Andy McKay, composer on Kris Drever’s award nominated album Black Water and Tom Smith, Manchester drumming ace, are Celebrity Chimp. The pair played the open mics of the London music scene relentlessly until they found their spiritual home at the Hobgoblin on White Lion St, N1. They now take up residency monthly to delight a growing crowd of pink dancing ‘Chimps’, where Derek and Clive-esque verbal sniping comes to intersperse and tangle with the tunes.
