Chromatics originally hailed from Seattle as a quartet featuring vocalist Adam Miller, drummer Hannah Blilie, guitarist Devin Welch, and bassist Michelle Nolan. That lineup debuted in 2002 with a Calvin Johnson-produced 7" on Gold Standard Laboratories -- a split with Die Monitr Batss -- and followed with the similarly GSL-issued Chrome Rats Vs Basement Ruts LP. While Chrome Rats was critically hailed, Chromatics couldn't keep it together, and Miller was soon the only member in good standing (Blilie, Welch, and Nolan went on to form the similar-sounding Shoplifting).
The Shondes (from the Yiddish for "shame", "monster" or "disgrace",) are a riot grrrl-influenced rock quartet based in Brooklyn, New York. Their songs combine punk rock with classical and traditional jewish music, with emotionally intense lyrics that speak to the band's radical politics. Their debut LP the red sea (produced by tony maimone,) was released on January 8, 2008. The band's original lineup was Louisa Rachel Solomon on bass and lead vocals, Elijah Oberman on violin and vocals, Temim Fruchter on drums and vocals , and Ian Brannigan on guitar.
Not to be confused with "the husbands", husbands are a london DIY homo-tone casio punk couple into self reliance, making community, organised resistance, autonomous spaces, and counter-culture art as duty not career. They have been playing since early 2006 around the UK and Europe with UK bands such as the corey orbison, sleeping states, chaps and drunky granny. They have a split 7" with Drunk Granny on Local Kid Records available from localkid.co.uk
Fusing punk, disco and a touch of ‘cock rock’, the Blow Wave’s unique sound has been described as punchy, rocky disco-camp… full of raw attitude. The Blow Waves are; Vocals - Matt Doll, Guitars – Jamie Wave, Keyboards – Byron St John, Bass – John Pants, and Drums – Jezz Beat. Immersed in dirty synths, melodic harmonies, guitar driven riffs and penetrating hooks, The Blow Waves capture their raw stage performance and live reputation with the launch of their self-titled EP on 20 June 2009.
Job 2 Do (Job Bunjob) is the number one Reggae Band in Thailand and leaded to a real hype of Thai reggae music in the last years. Touring a lot in the Andaman Sea in South Thailand the “Kings of Thai Reaggae” caused a real reggae movement in Thailand, even spreading to the very far North of Thailand Wieng Haeng, where DJ Krathiem (Garlic) is running a Thai Reggae Online Radio. Similar to other Thai artists Job 2 Do is influenced by Bob Marley to an unneglectable degree.
Giving every ounce of their being over to everything that they set their minds to, CLOSE YOUR EYES blew the top off of the Abilene, Texas music scene and has brought their high energy, passionate brand of hardcore to the masses. With one listen of their Victory Records debut, We Will Overcome, audiences everywhere will notice the authenticity of this spirit-filled, hardcore outfit. Shane Raymond (Vocals) and Brett Callaway (Guitar/Vocals) first met at Hardin-Simmons University. Being the only two "hardcore" kids in the cafeteria connected them immediately.
On a steaming day in summer 2006, Michal Dvo?
Huggy Bear was an English riot grrrl band, formed in 1991 in Brighton, England. Rising up in tandem with the Olympia, Washington-based riot grrl movement led by feminist bands like Bikini Kill, Huggy Bear called themselves "boy/girl revolutionaries," both in reference to their political philosophy and the gender makeup of their band. During the course of their existence, they refused to be photographed or interviewed by mainstream press, nor gave their full names once they began releasing records formally.
